Our client operates a next-generation insurance distribution technology platform built specifically for the health and life insurance industry. With an established 11-year company history, the platform supports independent agents and agencies in rapidly growing their brokerage businesses.
By providing a proprietary, carrier-agnostic operating system paired with high-touch, value-added services, our client enables affiliated partners to experience over 4.0x enrollment growth. The expanding commercial footprint currently connects a massive network of over 400 agencies and 4,000 affiliated agents nationwide.
Role Overview
The primary focus of the Director of Sales is to recruit, manage, and scale the internal broker-side business. This senior commercial role blends strategic planning with hands-on execution; you will be equally comfortable leading a boardroom strategy session and getting on the phone to close a deal. The ideal candidate will be responsible for nurturing relationships with major insurance carriers and driving aggressive growth across our existing network of agents and agencies.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of progressive sales leadership experience from the following industries: Insurance Companies in health / Life, Insurtech, or financial services.
  • Niche Expertise: Strong background in Health Insurance is required, and additional experience within the Life Insurance sector is a definitive plus.
  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue targets.
  • Experience supporting or collaborating with C-suite executives on commercial strategy.
  • Leadership Style: Proven capability to build and scale an internal business unit from the ground up while successfully managing a diverse sales team.
  • Experience in Client Engagement, Negotiation, and Relationship Management skills.
  • Experience in working with Agencies, and independent agents plus.
  • Healthcare insurance sales management, experience from an FMO, and relate a plus
  • Data-driven approach to sales planning and performance management.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and sales analytics tools.
  • Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling company.
  • At least Conversational fluency in Spanish is required
  • Must possess a deep, thorough understanding of the domestic US health insurance market.
  • Located in or willing to commute to the Miami area (in-person role).

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Growth Strategy: Partner directly with executive leadership (COO, CGO, and CBO) to develop and execute growth strategies aligned with the companyโ€™s business objectives.
  • Team Leadership & Scaling: Lead, coach, and scale an internal sales team of 6โ€“8 employees. Set clear performance goals, track KPIs, and foster a culture of accountability.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain and expand strong strategic partnerships with major carriers, including Centene, UnitedHealthcare, and Oscar.
  • Agency Recruitment & Expansion: Actively identify, engage, and recruit new agency and distribution partnerships. Work closely with both big and small players to demonstrate how to effectively scale their book of business using the platform.
  • Network Engagement: Actively engage with the current network of 4,000 agents and 400 agencies to maximize platform utilization and drive enrollment growth.
  • Campaign & Pipeline Management: Oversee inbound and outbound sales campaigns, optimize sales conversion funnels, and manage the overall revenue pipeline.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Monitor, analyze, and report on competitor activity and market trends within the broker space to identify new commercial opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal marketing, operations, and product teams to perfectly align commercial initiatives with broader company objectives.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Base Salary: $100,000 โ€“ $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
  • Commission: 100% of base salary in performance-based commission โ€” uncapped earning potential tied directly to results. Estimated earning with commission = $200k-$300K annually
