The Vice President, Chief AI & Digital Transformation Officer is a newly created enterprise leadership role with a unique opportunity to shape the future of one of the nation's largest Catholic health systems. Reporting directly to the CEO and based in Livonia, Michigan, this executive will lead Trinity Health's AI vision, strategy, and transformation agenda to drive meaningful impact across care delivery, operations, workforce productivity, and the colleague experience.
The Vice President, Chief AI & Digital Transformation Officer is an enterprise executive) who serves as Trinity Health's seniormost AI thought leader, strategic architect, and catalyst for AI-enabled digital transformation. Working closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the VP, Chief AI & Digital Transformation Officer establishes and stewards the enterprise AI vision, strategy, and transformation roadmap to advance Trinity Health's mission and strategic priorities through improved clinical quality, connected care, colleague engagement, operational effectiveness, workforce productivity, and stewardship. The role drives enterprise alignment, responsible AI use, and AI literacy across the multi-state ministry, enabling leaders, clinicians, and colleagues to adopt AI effectively and in accordance with Catholic ethics and values. In partnership with the Chief Data & Analytics Officer (CDAO), SVP Technology & Information Services (TIS), TogetherHealth leadership, health informatics, and operational leaders, the VP accelerates AI innovation and adoption, leads the organizational change required to realize value, and ensures Trinity Health implements AI responsibly, effectively, and at scale. Success is measured by sustained, mission-aligned outcomes achieved through enterprise adoption, trust, and value realization.

Role Accountabilities
1. Enterprise AI Vision, Strategy & Executive Thought Leadership
- Set and champion a system-wide AI strategy aligned with clinical, operational, financial, and mission goals and strategy.
- Integrate Catholic ministry ethics and values into all initiatives.
- Translate ELT priorities into a multi-year AI vision and roadmap with measurable outcomes and ROI, recognizing AI's impact on business objectives beyond financial metrics.
- Serve as TH's seniormost AI thought leader to the, CEO, ELT, and ministry stakeholders - building and maintaining the enterprise vision for how AI will create value.
- Establish a world-class AI strategy and organization that aligns with TH's overarching enterprise vision, including goal-setting and measurement of AI initiatives.
- Bridge communication gaps and foster cross-functional synergy to align AI initiatives across business units and functions - ensuring value realization, minimizing conflicting implementations, and communicating complex AI topics clearly to varied stakeholders.
- Leverage a deep understanding of industry dynamics and TH's core mission to pinpoint where AI can yield the greatest impact, while identifying relevant risks and opportunities.
- Develops and maintains a multi-year AI and Digital Transformation Roadmap that translates enterprise strategy into sequenced execution priorities, measurable milestones, and value realization targets
2. Ethics & Responsible AI
- Establish and lead a matrixed operating model; balancing enterprise standards with regional flexibility.
- Chair the AI oversight committee;
- Evolve responsible-AI policies and programs that address AI's regulatory and compliance requirements - especially data usage, model explainability, fairness, and privacy - with appropriate audit controls and adherence to ethical mandates.
- Define decision rights across enterprise, regional, and local levels to enable scale and speed.
- Establish effective collaboration among security, risk, compliance, legal, ethics, safety, mission, and clinical stakeholders to monitor bias and adapt practices as needed, upholding TH's Catholic identity.
- Ensure enterprise AI management includes appropriate controls, monitoring, transparency, performance management, compliance reviews, and risk mitigation practices to support responsible and ethical AI adoption.
- Establishes mechanisms to continuously monitor AI integrity, fairness, reliability, and organizational compliance requirements.
3. AI Value Orientation & Portfolio Accountability
- Provide strategic direction and prioritization for the enterprise AI portfolio across a multi-state, matrixed system, in partnership with operations, TogetherHealth leaders, health informatics, TIS, and finance.
- Establish transparent AI portfolio evaluation practices to estimate, measure, and foster accountability for the business value and ROI of AI initiatives.
- Champion a balanced portfolio of AI investments that ensure sustainable, strategy and mission-aligned impact - focusing first on member experience, clinician and operational efficiency, and lower-risk, high-value areas.
- Establish enterprise processes and performance-management frameworks to monitor, measure, and communicate AI-enabled business outcomes and organizational value creation.
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews and recommend acceleration, redesign, scaling, or discontinuation of initiatives based on realized value and organizational priorities.
- Drive measurable AI-based outcomes in:
- Cost optimization

4. Clinical, Operational & Experience Transformation
- Partner with clinical and operational leaders to identify, prioritize, and champion high-value AI use cases that advance the connected care experience.
- Guide evidence-based validation and safe, responsible deployment of patient-facing AI solutions.
- Champion the redesign of workflows, operating models, services, and care experiences to maximize the benefits of AI and digital technologies.
- Set strategic direction across core domains:

- Revenue cycle, supply chain, workforce management
5. Data, Platform & Technology Partnership
- Guide enterprise digital product and platform strategy across the patient journey, leveraging common platforms (e.g., TogetherCare/Epic, PeopleSoft, Workday, Oracle) to scale effectively.
- Champion AI integration across multiple environments and legacy systems.
- Partner on AI-ready data infrastructure, including unified data models and real-time capabilities.
- Partner with the CDAO to drive enterprise data stewardship, ethical data use, and data readiness for AI initiatives across multi-state environments.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Trinity Health operations, care delivery models, and administrative functions to identify opportunities for scalable AI and digital transformation.
6. Innovation, Ecosystem & External Partnerships
- Establish an internal and external AI ecosystem - building relationships with vendors, hyper-scalers, regulators, and industry associations to inform enterprise AI strategy.
- Build a disciplined innovation pipeline to evaluate and champion emerging technologies, including agentic AI, guiding TH to be an effective "early majority" adopter.
- Advise on AI investment strategy and business-case development, while day-to-day budgeting and resource allocation remain with TIS, operations, and finance partners.
- Deliver transparent ROI and value realization reporting across system and ministry stakeholders.
- Prepare and present strategic AI transformation recommendations, investment priorities, and value realization updates to executive leadership and governing bodies as appropriate.
7. AI Literacy, Adoption & Change Leadership
- Develop and oversee execution of an enterprise-wide capability for AI literacy - equipping leaders, clinicians, and colleagues to understand and apply AI confidently and responsibly.
- Foster and cultivate AI literacy across the enterprise, leading transformation efforts and developing change-management programs that build clinician and colleague engagement.
- Close the adoption gap: as AI tools advance exponentially while colleague adoption grows more linearly, build change-readiness, understanding, and capacity for change across every area - recognizing that success belongs to those who implement most effectively, not first.
- Scale the readiness-and-activation capability that pairs colleague enablement with each new deployment, building on TH's TogetherCare AI activation program.
- Support workforce transformation and role redesign in response to AI adoption, in coordination with HR and operations.
- Ensure scalable deployment and integration across regions, including post-merger alignment of platforms and capabilities.
- Exercise enterprise leadership to support consistent adoption of approved AI capabilities across ministries and functions while respecting local operating requirements and market needs. Ensure change management programs are integrated with transformation initiatives to accelerate adoption and sustain long-term behavioral and operational change.

- Lead enterprise digital transformation efforts that leverage AI and related technologies to improve care delivery, operational performance, workforce effectiveness and consumer experience.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, information technology, computer science, engineering, data science, or related field required.
- Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible leadership experience, including executive-level accountability in healthcare, technology, digital transformation, strategy, operations, analytics, or related disciplines.
- Minimum seven (7) years leading enterprise-wide transformation initiatives across large, complex, matrixed organizations.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing AI, digital, analytics, automation, or technology-enabled business transformation strategies that delivered measurable organizational value.
