The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a Pharmacist - Facility Program Manager for Informatics/ADPAC EHRM at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI. This position plays an integral role within the Pharmacy Department by managing and applying electronic health record systems, automated information systems, report generation, data integration, pharmacy informatics tools, and technical support systems that affect pharmacy operations and Veteran care delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, enhance, implement, and maintain current and future pharmacy computer systems.
- Support pharmacy operations, clinical programs, CPRS functions, and systems that affect pharmacy service delivery to Veterans.
- Implement new versions and capabilities of CPRS, order checking software, quick order menus, templates, and related pharmacy informatics tools.
- Attend national meetings related to informatics as needed.
- Conduct data mining locally, regionally, and nationally for clinical research or program needs.
- Provide pharmacy informatics education sessions for pharmacy students and residents.
- Ensure pharmacy computer systems meet required standards and mandated implementation deadlines.
- Consult with the Chief of Pharmacy when conflicting policies or system problems arise.
- Support the Federal EHR / Oracle system, VISTA pharmacy applications, CPRS pharmacy options, BCMA pharmacy support, ScriptPro, Parata, audio refill systems, and system interfaces.
- Serve as the primary Pharmacy Service consultant on Bar Code Medication Administration issues.
- Participate in Clinical Bar Code Management Committee meetings and BCMA utilization reviews.
- Act as a resource to nursing and pharmacy staff when BCMA problems arise.
- Create Fileman reports and other reports supporting BCMA, pharmacy management, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Respond proactively and timely to requests for assistance related to pharmacy applications, reports, software issues, user accounts, and data needs.
- Supervise or personally complete pharmacy internal management information system assignments, spreadsheets, and reporting enhancements.
- Complete special projects and provide accurate data management reports using VISTA, SQL, Pyramid Analytics, and other tools.
- Participate in alpha and beta testing of new software and report application errors or enhancement suggestions.
- Transform data into meaningful information for administrative, professional, technical, and stakeholder use.
- Participate in formulary conversions, cost-savings initiatives, and other projects assigned by the Chief of Pharmacy.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Must be subject to a background/security investigation.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
- Must pass pre-employment drug testing and remain subject to drug testing requirements for this testing designated position.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959.
- Must complete all required application and online onboarding requirements.
- Must provide acceptable identification for employment eligibility verification.
- Must participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program as required for Department of Veterans Affairs health care personnel.
- Selected applicant must serve a one-year or two-year trial period.
Education and Licensure Requirements:
- Must be a graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy and/or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
- Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs must provide proof of Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission certification, including FPGEE and TOEFL iBT requirements.
- Must have a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Must maintain current registration if required by the state of licensure.
GS-13 Qualification Requirements:
- Must meet the basic pharmacist requirements and GS-12 requirements, including completion of an ACPE-accredited Pharm.D. program or one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
- Must have one year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 level.
- Experience should demonstrate knowledge of professional pharmacy practice and the ability to communicate orally and in writing with patients and health care staff.
- Experience should demonstrate knowledge of laws, regulations, accreditation standards, drug distribution and control, pharmacy security, and scheduled and non-scheduled drug requirements.
- Must demonstrate skill in monitoring and assessing drug therapy outcomes, including physical assessment and interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic parameters.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions.
- Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards for the program area.
- Ability to solve problems, coordinate responsibilities, and organize work to maximize program outcomes.
- Expert knowledge of a specialized clinical pharmacy practice area or specialty area of pharmacy.
- Advanced skill in monitoring and assessing drug therapy outcomes, including physical assessment and interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic parameters.
Preferred Experience:
- PGY-1 or PGY-2 Pharmacy Practice Residency.
- Previous experience practicing independently with a scope of practice.
