Head Operator information

What is a head operator?

Head Operators are professionals responsible for overseeing the operation of machinery, equipment, or industrial processes in facilities such as factories, plants, or construction sites. They supervise other operators, ensure safe and efficient workflows, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during operations. Head Operators also coordinate maintenance, enforce safety regulations, and may be involved in training new staff or implementing process improvements. Their leadership ensures that production goals are met while maintaining quality and safety standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a head operator, and why are they important?

To excel as a Head Operator, you need in-depth knowledge of operational processes, leadership abilities, and experience in the relevant industry, often supported by vocational training or technical certifications. Familiarity with machinery controls, SCADA systems, safety protocols, and maintenance management software is typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and team management skills help drive efficiency and ensure safety. These competencies are crucial for overseeing smooth operations, minimizing downtime, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

What are some typical challenges faced by a head operator in managing production teams, and how can they be effectively addressed?

As a Head Operator, common challenges include maintaining consistent production quality, addressing equipment malfunctions promptly, and ensuring effective communication across shifts. Managing a diverse team also requires balancing individual strengths while fostering a collaborative environment. Proactive maintenance scheduling, regular team briefings, and ongoing training initiatives help mitigate these challenges and keep operations running smoothly.

Job description

Head Aero is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented, and hands-on Warehouse Operator to join our Miami team. You’ll work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and be responsible for the receiving, handling, storage, documentation, packing, and shipping of commercial aircraft parts to customers worldwide.

WHO WE ARE

Head Aero is a US-based aviation company with offices in Miami and Vilnius, specializing in commercial aircraft asset sales and acquisitions, leasing, storage, and spare parts trading. Our group also includes Landing Gear Leasing (LGL) and AWS MRO, focused on landing gear leasing and repair services.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Receive, inspect, identify, and label aircraft parts;
  • Prepare, pack, and ship components worldwide;
  • Maintain accurate inventory in ERP/CRM systems;
  • Manage domestic and international shipping documentation;
  • Coordinate shipments with FedEx, DHL, UPS, and freight forwarders;
  • Follow export-compliance requirements, including SLIs, HS codes, and ECCN classifications;
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and compliant warehouse in accordance with applicable ASA standards;
  • Support the Warehouse Supervisor with daily operations;
  • Identify opportunities and contribute directly to improving warehouse processes, organization, and efficiency.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Experience in warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory, packing, and shipping;
  • Experience with ERP/CRM systems and documentation;
  • Basic knowledge of export compliance (SLI, HS, ECCN);
  • Experience working with freight forwarders is a plus;
  • Knowledge of ASA storage standards is an advantage;
  • Hazmat certification is an advantage, or willingness to obtain it;
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset;
  • Fluent English; Spanish is a plus.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A stable position in a growing international aviation company;
  • Competitive compensation and performance-based rewards;
  • A hands-on role with real commercial aircraft components;
  • The opportunity to learn aviation logistics and build a career in the aviation industry;
  • A chance to directly influence and improve warehouse processes - your ideas and initiative will matter;
  • An international, collaborative team and exposure to customers and partners around the world.

This is more than a traditional warehouse job. You’ll be part of the aviation industry, working with aircraft components and helping keep the logistics behind commercial aviation moving. Every day brings different parts, shipments, and operational challenges - making this a dynamic and genuinely interesting role. If you’re looking for a hands-on position where you can grow, take responsibility, and make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
