SUMMARY:

TheElementary STEM Teacherwill deliver STEM instruction through project-based learning methods and collaborate with a dynamic team of educators to provide STEM related experiences for K-5th grade students. The STEM teacher's primary role will be tofacilitatedevelopmentallyappropriate STEMlearning activities,experiencesand assessments to foster intellectual,physicaland social growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degreerequired. Credentialpreferred

  • Masters in Mathematicsand/or Science and/or STEM preferred or related field of study

  • At least three (3) years of classroom experience

  • Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)

  • Ability to communicate effectively with school community

  • Experience or familiarity with tools such as, but not limitedto:3D Printing,AutoCad,TynkerCad, SketchUp, Laser Cutting, Vinyl Cutting, Makey-Makey,Codecademy, Tynker, Scratch, Hopscotch, Vex,Ozobot, Sphero, Lego Robotics, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following:

  • Plans and implements daily, weekly,and yearly goals andobjectivesaccording to students' needs and within Fairmont's overall curriculum guidelines.
  • Engage and support all students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies and resources to respond to students' diverse needs.
  • Engage students in activities of Scientific Argumentation, Scientific Inquiry, Scientific Innovation, Scientific Collaboration, Scientific Thinking, and Scientific Literacy.
  • Facilitate hands-on experiments and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring.
  • Implement a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
  • Apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration ata high level.
  • Identify, select, andmodifyinstructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Organize, develop, and coordinate special STEM events and/or activities at the school site.
  • Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, peers, and community.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
  • Collaborate with peers to plan, review, and revise district units of study.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student academic performance goals.
  • UtilizesFairmont adoptedLearning Management System (LMS) to post homework/assignments and communicate with students and parents.
  • The online gradebook is updated during progress report and report card season via the adopted student information system.
  • Carries on other duties as directed by theHead of School and Associate Head of School.

Salary Range: $50,000- $70,000 plus benefits

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Primarily an office/classroom position.May require significant degree of intermittent walking, bending, stooping, reaching,and stretching.May require lifting of up to 20 lbs.
