QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be 15 years or older
  • Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED - or equivalent
  • Demonstrate proficiency in lifesaving techniques
  • Be in good health and be physically fit to perform all duties
  • Possess good public relation skills

REPORTS TO: Head Lifeguard, Pool Supervisor, and/or Aquatics Coordinator
LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Variable hours as determined by the Aquatics Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY: Ensure the safety of facility patrons in the pool area by preventing and responding to emergencies. At times, work as a Water Safety Instructor Aide during lessons.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies
  • Know pool and building Emergency Action Plans
  • Enforce all District and program policies, rules and regulations
  • Inspect the facility each shift and report any unsafe conditions (including equipment) to their supervisor immediately
  • Assist with the general care and cleaning of the facility
  • Assist Water Safety Instructors with lessons as assigned
  • Participate in staff training sessions as directed by Aquatics Coordinator
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
