Job description

Job Title: Food Service Head Cook

Salary Grade: $20.73 -  $22.32 per hour

Work Year: 154 Days

Status: Nonexempt

Department: Food Service

Reports To: Director of Food Service

OUR DISTRICT: Clear Creek School District (CCSD) is located in Clear Creek County, Colorado, a short drive west of Denver and area suburbs. Clear Creek serves the mountain communities of Idaho Springs, Georgetown, Empire, Dumont, Silver Plume, and parts of Evergreen. Our county is well-suited for outdoor adventure. PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT: The successful candidate will be required to complete fingerprinting through an approved fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

POSITION SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for providing the daily preparation of food for the school lunch program.  The Food Service Head Cook prepares and serves Clear Creek School District meals, including breakfast and lunch (hot and cold) in accordance with food and safety standards. The Food Service Head Cook develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND  RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Performs all food preparation activities, including anticipating needs, cooking and baking.

Prepares food between lunch periods as needed.

Operates computer and cash box.

Maintains sanitary conditions of kitchen and other areas.

Enters grocery order as needed.

Makes routine decisions in the absence of the Director Food Service.

Accepts deliveries and stores incoming food.

Maintains organization of food storage room.

Assists Director of Food Service in inventory process.

Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:  High School Diploma/GED required.

EXPERIENCE:    One (1) to three (3) years in school lunch program or related experience.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  Knowledge of large volume cooking and commercial food preparation equipment required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  While performing these job duties, the employee may be exposed to noise and temperature extremes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Frequent lifting up to fifty (50) pounds. Repetitive bending, reaching, pulling with prolonged standing and walking. Eye/hand coordination for register and computer operation. Visual concentration on equipment.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:  May direct the work of others.
