Job description

Project Manager Tech 2

This hybrid role requires 3 days a week onsite at Building 41 in Redmond, WA. The team focuses on computing and hardware for Microsoft's Azure Quantum, providing a full-stack solution for quantum computing accessible through Azure. This role will contribute to working with the DARPA agency to deliver designs and specifications for this program, supporting this DARPA program as well as additional PM support for hardware and test measurement equipment.

The role will consist of:

  • Government Programs:
    • Documentations
    • Specification writing
    • Using ADO
    • Using JAMA
    • Working on program schedules
    • Supporting Test & Measurement of Cryogenic Fridges
    • Scheduling and implementing test system upgrades
    • Doing the test system bug triage weekly
    • Other PM tasks to be determined

This role provides the opportunity to work on a quantum computer, learning about quantum devices and electronics, and supporting a program with the US government agency DARPA.

Years of experience required: 2-4 overall years in the field. An engineering degree is required to be eligible for this role. The ideal resume would contain previous experience at MSFT or Amazon, past work experience with the US government, experience with test and measurement, and previous PM experience. Performance will be assessed based on meeting deadlines and quality of work.

Top 3 hard skills required:

  • Minimum 2-4 years experience with ADO
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience with hardware, firmware or software project management
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience/understanding of test and measurement equipment

Hardware Project Manager: Oversee the application of project management methodology during all phases of the project cycle, with responsibilities including project design, scope management, cost control, quality and performance reporting.

R&D Project Manager: Oversee the application of project management methodology during all phases of the project cycle, with responsibilities including project design, scope management, cost control, quality and performance reporting. This will include managing the Hardware and Software Development of higher complex product during its research and development (R&D) phase.

Job responsibilities include developing, tracking and managing project budget, project plans, timelines and scope, managing project resources, partnering closely with other members of functional project teams, facilitating cross functional teams communication, and ensuring appropriate systems development and project management processes are being utilized.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree or advanced degree in engineering, experience using ADO, experience with Microsoft tools, 2-4 years experience as a project manager or R&D engineering manager, proven project management experience, people management and team building skills, demonstrated ability to be flexible/adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities, proven ability to learn business processes quickly and to work well with business partners at different levels within the organization, and strong ability to assess risk and apply management principles to technology applications/products and business functions.
