As a Senior Product Manager, you will have cradle to grave ownership of one or more products/product lines/business initiatives. The Senior Product Manager identifies customer needs, works within the Blackline product development and other business processes to define solutions that are good business for Blackline, oversees the development and launch of the product, oversees the sales and support of the product once it is launched, and guides the product through its end-of-life activities.

You will define the product roadmap and make recommendations for your assigned product/service portfolio. You will work in collaboration with the Engineering, Blackline's monitoring center, Customer Care, Sales and Product Marketing to understand what customer problems Blackline Safety can solve with our solutions.

You will use a data-driven understanding of how your 'customers' use our products and identify opportunities to better support them. You will partner with engineering, design, marketing, and any other team necessary to deliver a cohesive experience across devices and platforms.

You'll be responsible for identifying and tracking key performance indicators for your products. You will need to be organized, a gifted communicator, have business savvy, and a strong technical acumen, with a passion for delivering value to your customer as well as user experiences that delight.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish the competitive set of proposed new roadmap capabilities to solve unmet needs, or create durable competitive advantage against our competition (using our 1-pager approach as your starting point)
  • Be the primary driver for identifying and driving product vision, strategies, and roadmaps in the context of broader organizational strategies and goals
  • Drive customer value by identifying and prioritizing highest impact capabilities
  • Define a practical, yet aggressive set of requirements for each release based on roadmap, user requirements, technical architecture, and business needs
  • Deliver business cases (financial and otherwise) advocating for appropriate additional investment to grow your Service
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in all things related to your portfolio
  • Identify key input and output metrics which will inform how you measure and monitor your portfolio's performance
  • Write capability & feature specifications, and maintain a prioritized backlog that aligns with the roadmap
  • Maximize efficiency in our constantly evolving environment, where creative solutions are the norm
  • Set big goals and have clear KPIs of measuring success, and using a consistent process
  • Utilize project management capabilities/process/tools to focus on execution quality
  • Proactively work with Customer Support, Customer Success, Product Marketing, and other teams to identify user focused improvements
  • Manage tradeoffs: spanning team's capacity for change, timing needed, performance, availability, etc.
  • Develop an understanding of the market, technology, and customer needs, incorporating data, research, and market analysis to inform product strategies and roadmaps

About You:

  • Technical background at least at the undergraduate level.
  • MBA is nice to have, but not required as long as you have a strong understand of business and economics fundamentals.
  • Willingness to learn, follow/improve processes, take ownership of you product, and continuously make tough prioritization decisions
  • Minimum 5 years' Product experience in a mixed hardware and software environment
  • Growth mindset - willingness to learn, follow and improve processes, and take ownership of your product area.
  • Product management methodology fluency, including prioritization frameworks (e.g., RICE, MoSCoW) and familiarity with roadmap/backlog tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Data and analytics proficiency - comfortable working with product analytics or BI tools and translating data into actionable decisions.
  • Financial and business acumen, including ROI modeling, budgeting, and building investment cases.
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly for specifications, requirements documents, and executive-level updates.
  • Stakeholder management and cross-functional influence - able to align and drive alignment across teams without direct authority.
  • Market and competitive research skills - techniques for competitive analysis, customer discovery, and opportunity identification.
  • Technical fluency in hardware/software product environments - able to converse credibly with engineering on architecture and constraints.
  • Sound judgment under ambiguity - comfortable making and defending tough tradeoff decisions with incomplete information.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with desktop AI environments (e.g. Claude Desktop) a plus, especially in regardless to accelerating Product Management practice
