Working within the Engineering Services department and reporting to the Director, Engineering Services, the Manager, Engineering Projects is responsible for overseeing the strategic program and project management function of Engineering capital projects and operating programs. This position provides leadership and supervision including mentorship, guidance and development opportunities within the portfolio and department and ensures safety is a priority on all project activities. The Manager, Engineering Projects provides technical and strategic guidance to support Engineering capital plans and the County’s Asset Management program including overseeing master servicing plans for transportation and County utilities to ensure effective service delivery and project management for the County’s long-term strategic plans.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources or related Municipal Services field supplemented with formal leadership training.  
  • Professional Engineering (P. Eng) designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
  • Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of relevant experience, including demonstrated in-depth and progressive technical expertise overseeing capital project management functions, preferably in a municipal environment.
  • Experience in a supervisory and project manager capacity with a proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Diverse knowledge of engineering practices and the ability to communicate effectively and work through contentious situations.
  • Local Government Management Certificate and Project Management Professional Designation are considered assets.
Requirements:
  • Ability to primarily work in-person at Parkland County Centre – 53109A HWY 779, Parkland County, AB and in field locations throughout the County.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license and current, satisfactory driver’s abstract provided upon hire.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire, excluding candidates under the age of 18 and current Parkland County employees.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
