The Theater Strike Weapon Systems (TSWS) mission area is looking for our next enthusiastic and motivated Systems Engineering Sr Manager to lead the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) Hardware Engineering team. This leader is accountable to the LRHW Program Manager to plan and execute all hardware engineering efforts associated with the design, development, test and delivery of LRHW Battery Operations Center (BOC), Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL), All Up Round (AUR) Emulator (AE) and related assets. This leader also serves as a primary customer interface to the Army LRHW program office.
As the Hardware Engineering Sr Manager, you will:
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for hardware engineering of the BOC, TEL and AE system elements, including responsibility for technical direction, planning, staffing, and scope execution.
  • Ensure the Hardware Engineering team provides world-class engineering support to LRHW production operations, driving high quality on-time deliveries through robust and manufacturable designs, disciplined change control, and timely troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Work closely with Engineering & Technology functional leaders to plan, identify and manage the engineering resources required to execute LRHW Hardware Engineering scope.
  • Provide guidance through a broad range of activities to ensure the technical integrity and successful delivery and fielding of LRHW system elements, to include full Systems Engineering lifecycle support from architecture and requirements development through weapon system integration, operations and sustainment.
  • Work closely with Subcontract Program Managers to provide oversight and technical support for major subcontractors and suppliers, including the technical evaluation of supplier proposals.
  • Establish and foster customer relationships to ensure the Hardware Engineering team is addressing the needs of the customer on a program with dynamic priorities.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for LRHW Hardware Engineering with the customer, program management, other program segments / IPTs, external partners, and subcontractors.
  • Drive critical Engineering skill development, including mechanical and electrical design, system integration, Certified Principal Engineer / Responsible Systems Engineer (CPE/RSE) product ownership, and project management.
  • Grow leaders and mentor team members to cultivate the next generation of Engineering talent.

Basic Qualifications
  • Significant experience in an engineering or management role with responsibility for delivery of spacecraft, missile or related defense systems
  • Detailed understanding of Systems Engineering principles and processes
  • Experience leading teams on large government development programs, or equivalent
  • Experience managing complex prime- or sub- contractors
  • Demonstrated business acumen, management influence and systems thinking
  • Eligibility to be granted a DoD Secret Level Security Clearance; US Citizenship required

Desired Skills
  • Experience with missile system or weapon/fire control design, development, production, test, integration and operation on military host platforms
  • Experience as an IPT Lead on a Weapon System Program
  • Experience with Army strike programs and customers
  • Experience interfacing, partnering, and building effective relationships with government customers
  • Understanding of DoD contracts and funding types and experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience implementing Systems Engineering processes and executing milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR)
  • Proposal preparation and negotiation experience
  • Experience identifying, managing, and addressing program risks & opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor other leaders and individual contributors
  • Demonstrated consistency with high ethical standards and conduct
  • Ability to maintain process discipline in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $158700.00 - $294700.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
