Job description

Hanover Foods Corporation - Centre Hall, PA, is currently seeking a 1st Shift Sanitation Person (Industrial Cleaner) responsible for performing a variety of sanitation and deep cleaning functions throughout the Production and Entrée Departments and may assist in general labor functions as operational needs require (possibly on different shifts that will include our Shift Differentials). The hours for this 1st Shift entry position are 7am - 3pm. Hanover Foods Corporation offers a competitive rate of pay and comprehensive benefits package such as medical, dental, prescription drug, and 401(k). We encourage all to apply!

The duties listed below are representative of the types of responsibilities required for the role. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the organization:

  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of USDA cleanliness standards.

  • Responsible for disassembling, scrubbing, washing, drying, and re-assembling various equipment on a routine basis. This includes removing, cleaning, and re-installing pipes, cleaning smokestacks and ventilation hoods.

  • Similar duties apply to cleaning, sanitizing and reassembly of previously disassembled equipment in all areas of the plant, in addition to non-routine sanitations tasks.

  • Operating a forklift and/or electric pallet jack occasionally.

  • Setting up equipment for next day’s production run as required.

  • Assisting and learning to operate various types of equipment and machinery.

  • Learning the line flow and production of many products of the Production and Entrée Departments.

  • Cleaning machinery and work areas as applicable.

  • Becoming familiar with the proper use of chemicals for cleaning, how to check the pH of chemicals, and the proper storage of all chemicals.

  • Performing daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation cleaning as per the Master Sanitation Schedule and as directed by the Supervisor to ensure the Plant is always audit ready.

  • Removing trash and debris from the Production and Entrée Rooms and disposing of it properly.

  • Adhering to plant hygiene standards to ensure high product integrity.

  • Keeping work areas clean in accordance with good housekeeping practices.

  • Responsible for following food safety, legality, and quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as: GMP’s, food safety, product quality, food security, plant security, etc.

  • Adhering to common safety practices and procedures including the wearing of PPE’s and Lock Out Tag Out procedures.

  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

  • 0 to 1 year of experience working in the industrial food industry.

  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in industrial sanitation and/or cleaning.

  • Comfortable working with and possesses the basic knowledge of industrial-strength chemical products/cleaners.

  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language; and general skills to satisfactorily complete the job requirements.

  • Ability to communicate clearly.

  • Ability to work with all employees (co-workers and management).

  • Ability to pay attention to detail and be accurate and efficient in recordkeeping.

  • Must physically be able to lift up-to 80 pounds occasionally.
