Job description

Hanover Foods is seeking a Janitor to join our team! Shift hours are 7am - 3pm with opportunities for overtime. 

Responsible for performing a variety of cleaning functions throughout the facility and may assist in general labor functions as operational needs require, possibly on different or extended shifts. 

  1. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning according to the Master Sanitation Schedule and is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
  1. Responsible for cleaning the breakroom to include the tables, floors, coolers, vending machines, microwaves, and trash.  Also ensures that condiments are replenished for the employee’s use.
  1. Maintains and cleans the restrooms to include the toilets, floors, sinks, and urinals.  Also, replenishes disposable products such as soaps, paper towels, and toilet paper.  Removes trash as needed.
  1. Ensures the handwashing station is kept clean and free of debris; and replenishes soaps and towels as needed.
  1. Cleans the Lab and Micro Lab weekly to include but not limited to floors, walls, and doors.  Empties the trash as needed.
  1. Cleans the USDA Office to include but not limited to floors, walls, and doors.  Empties the trash and dehumidifier as needed.
  1. Cleans the new dock offices and restrooms, replenishes disposable items, and empties the trash as needed.
  1. Cleans the First Aid Room and reports shortage to ensure critical items are never out of stock.
  1. Cleans the WWTP offices and restrooms, replenishes disposable items, and empties the trash as needed.
  1. Cleans the employee and main entrances ensuring Personal Protective (PPE’s) items (such as hairnets, beard nets, and earplugs) are always available.
  1. Cleans the Main Office and associated offices and restrooms, replenishing the disposable items and removing the trash as needed.
  1. Adheres to common safety practices and procedures, including the wearing of PPE’s as required.
  1. Must be familiar with the proper use of chemicals for cleaning.
  1. Ensures work areas are clean in accordance with good housekeeping practices.
  1. Adheres to plant hygiene standards to ensure high product integrity.
  1. Responsible for following food safety, legality and quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as but not limited to:  GMP’s, food safety, product quality, food security, plant security, etc.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor and/or QA Supervisor.

  • One year of experience in janitorial and/or cleaning services preferred
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language and general skills to satisfactorily complete the job requirements
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to work well with all types of people including employees and management
  • Must be able to pay attention to detail and be accurate and efficient in recordkeeping

Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
