The Infection Prevention Support Analyst applies analytical, epidemiologic, and informatics methods to clinical, operational, and surveillance data to support infection prevention, patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance across the Yale New Haven Health System. Working under the direction of Infection Prevention leadership, this role independently evaluates complex healthcare
data, identifies infection prevention risks and emerging trends, develops meaningful analyses and reports, and translates findings into actionable recommendations that support strategic decision -making and performance improvement initiatives.
The Infection Prevention Support Analyst serves as a key resource for healthcare -associated infection (HAI) surveillance, regulatory reporting, predictive analytics, dashboard development, outbreak investigation support, and system-wide infection prevention initiatives. The role collaborates closely with Infection Preventionists, clinical leaders, quality teams, operational leadership, information systems, and external agencies to drive data -informed decision making and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Applies analytical and epidemiologic methods to evaluate infection prevention, quality, safety, and
operational data across multiple healthcare settings. - Independently analyzes complex clinical, laboratory, surveillance, utilization, and operational datasets to identify infection prevention risks, trends, variation in practice, and opportunities for intervention.
- Develops, maintains, and enhances dashboards, reports, scorecards, data visualizations, and other analytic tools to support Infection Prevention leadership and organizational priorities.
- Performs healthcare-associated infection surveillance activities, including data validation, case review, NHSN reporting, denominator analysis, and outcome measurement.
- Interprets and analyzes surveillance findings and develops meaningful summaries, recommendations, and presentations for infection prevention, clinical, operational, and executive leadership.
- Utilizes electronic health records, data warehouses, surveillance systems, artificial intelligence applications, and business intelligence tools to retrieve, manage, analyze, and present data.
- Supports mandatory reporting requirements for federal, state, accreditation, and regulatory agencies, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and submission within required timelines.
- Conducts statistical analyses and trend evaluations to support performance improvement initiatives, strategic planning, regulatory readiness, and program evaluation.
- Identifies emerging infection prevention risks, epidemiologically significant organisms, and unusual patterns requiring further investigation or intervention.
- Collaborates with Infection Preventionists and operational leaders in outbreak, cluster, and exposure investigations through advanced data analysis, case finding, trend identification, and reporting.
- Supports development and evaluation of evidence-based infection prevention interventions through outcome measurement, process monitoring and effectiveness assessments.
- Provides consultation and analytic support to clinical, quality, patient safety, nursing, physician, and operational teams regarding infection prevention performance indicators and outcome measures.
- Assists in the development of predictive analytics, risk stratification methodologies, and innovative
approaches to infection prevention surveillance and performance monitoring. - Ensures data governance standards, data integrity, and consistency across multiple reporting platforms and information systems.
- Participates in system-wide quality improvement initiatives and utilizes YNHHS performance improvement methodologies to support organizational goals.
- Maintains current knowledge of epidemiology, infection prevention practices, healthcare analytics, statistical methodologies, data visualization technologies, regulatory requirements, and emerging industry trends.
- Performs other related job duties as requested or required.
