Job Description - Human Resources Information Systems Director  

Mission of the Role: 

The Human Resources (HR) Information Systems Director will play a critical role in the future of Apex Service Partners by providing leadership over the core applications supporting the People Operations function at Apex. Reporting to the CIO, this role will collaborate with departmental and operational leadership teams to enhance, support, and innovate the Human Resources software architecture (consisting of several integrated SaaS-based software tools) to support a world class People Operations function - driving efficiencies, improving the employee experience, and ultimately increasing profitability. 

The HR Information Systems Director will build and/or maintain highly scalable, best-in-class integrated HR technology stack, driving adoption/alignment at Partner Services and with the Regional Leadership teams. Working as part of the Technology Services Enterprise Applications team and integrated with the overall Apex technology strategy, the Lead will work closely with their clients in the People Operations function (including Talent Acquisitions, Talent Development, Employee Services, and Payroll) to find the balance between our fierce focus on local operations with the benefits of scale for processes and systems. 

The Director will be accountable for the management and administration of a variety of HR software platforms, ensuring alignment to business processes and acting as a data steward for the applications under their domain. He / she must have superior organization and communication skills, while maintaining incredible attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. This individual will perform both strategic and tactical work with HR tech that requires high levels of competency with organizational communication and training. 

Successful candidates must have experience with mid-market integrated SaaSplatforms supporting HR teams. This individual must be growth-oriented, have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, be a strong and articulate communicator, and possess the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. 

Responsibilities and Experience: 

Job responsibilities include: 

  • Overseeing and owning the effectiveness and efficiency of the Company's HR software applications, including their administration, user training, adoption, optimization and ultimately innovation. 
  • Providing subject matter expertise related to the HR application stack and processes, with a focus on being fact-based and metric driven in all aspects of back-office operations. 
  • Participating in and improving our relationships with the strategic account managers and support teams at our HR software vendor partners. 
  • Bringing a true "client service" mindset to building relationships with users and leadership, particularly field colleagues, whereby all parties can depend on the Enterprise Applications department for their HR software needs. 
  • Providing leadership of HR software and support services to ensure reliable, scalable and sustainable customer and employee-focused operations, and efficiencies for the business. 
  • Working with Enterprise Applications department leadership to establish priorities for the HR applications, recommending the highest value activities that are aligned to the business strategy and delivered according to planned timeline and budget. 
  • Working with internal cybersecurity leaders to build and execute cyber security goals related to the HR software environment. 
  • Developing and/or refining a HR M&A Playbook - working in conjunction with HR colleagues to support integration of new acquisitions onto HR system architecture. 
  • Staying current on the HR technology marketplace and developing use cases for our investment in emerging technologies. 

Requisite experiences include: 

  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • 10+ years minimum working with with SaaS-based HR software, preferably in a rapidly-growing middle market company (PE-backed company experience a plus).  Multi-year experience implementing or assessing / enhancing existing HR Information Systems platforms in a consulting capacity (either with an HR software vendor or a 3rd party consultancy) is preferred.   
  • Functional experience supporting all aspects of HR system needs, including Talent Acquisition, Talent Development and Performance Management, Employee Services, Benefits, Payroll, etc. 
  • Proven project delivery experience, outstanding track record of supporting project team delivery of high-quality solutions on-time and on-budget across concurrent and complex projects.
