Job description

Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented GT Set-Up Operator to support precision manufacturing in an aerospace environment. This role is responsible for setting up and preparing gang tool (GT) CNC machines for production runs, ensuring processes are stable, repeatable, and compliant with strict aerospace quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong setup experience, understands tight tolerances, and is committed to process control and documentation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complete setup of GT (gang tool) CNC machines, including tooling, offsets, and program verification
  • Prepare machines for production by verifying first article parts meet specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T requirements
  • Select, install, and align cutting tools, fixtures, and work holding
  • Establish and document repeatable setup processes and work instructions
  • Collaborate with programmers and engineers to optimize machining processes
  • Troubleshoot setup issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Support operators during production runs and ensure adherence to established processes
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments
  • Maintain compliance with aerospace standards, quality systems, and documentation requirements (e.g., AS9100)
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of CNC setup experience, preferably with gang tool (GT) machines
  • Experience in aerospace or other high-precision manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and tight-tolerance machining
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents
  • Proficiency with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
  • Experience with first article inspection and process validation
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and support team members
