What is group insurance sales?

Group insurance sales is the process of selling insurance policies that cover a group of people, typically employees of a company or members of an organization, under a single contract. Sales professionals in this field work with businesses to understand their needs and recommend appropriate insurance solutions such as health, dental, life, or disability coverage. The goal is to provide cost-effective, comprehensive benefits that attract and retain employees, while also managing risk for the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a group insurance sales professional?

To excel in Group Insurance Sales, you need strong sales acumen, a solid understanding of insurance products, and often a relevant license such as a state insurance producer license. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, quoting tools, and industry-specific platforms is typically required. Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills help set top performers apart in this role. These abilities are essential for effectively identifying client needs, closing deals, and maintaining long-term client relationships in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in group insurance sales and how can they be addressed?

Group Insurance Sales professionals often encounter challenges such as navigating complex client needs, staying updated on changing regulations, and managing long sales cycles that require persistence and relationship-building. Success in this role often depends on strong communication skills, the ability to tailor solutions to diverse organizations, and ongoing collaboration with underwriters and benefits administrators. To overcome these challenges, it’s helpful to stay informed through industry training, leverage CRM tools for organization, and actively engage with clients to build trust and provide responsive service.

Job description

Capstone Insurance is hiring one driven person to join our inside sales team and you don't need an insurance license or prior insurance experience to apply. If you can hold a real conversation, follow a process, and you actually like helping people, we'll teach you the rest and pay for your license along the way.

What You'll Actually Do

  • You'll spend your day talking to warm leads folks who already reached out about protecting their home, car, or both. No cold call lists. No door-knocking. You'll listen to what they need, build a quote they can understand, and walk them through coverage that genuinely makes their life easier. Most of our new reps are quoting policies in their first two weeks and writing their first deals by week four.
  • Base salary (based on experience) plus uncapped commission our reps realistically earn $65,000$85,000 in year one, with top performers clearing six figures by year two.
  • We reimburse you for your licensing (pre-licensing course, state exam, and study time on the clock)
  • Paid, structured training not "here's a headset, good luck"
  • Flexible work setup we'll talk about what works for you (in-office, hybrid, or remote for the right fit)
  • Warm leads from established marketing channels you're not prospecting from scratch
  • Real career path team lead, account management, and commercial lines tracks are all open to top performers
  • PTO, holidays, and a team that actually likes each other

  • You're organized enough to follow up most of this job is won between the first call and the third
  • Bonus if you have: prior sales, customer service, retail management, hospitality, call center, or bartending experience. Those skills translate beautifully.

Who Should NOT Apply

  • Anyone looking for a quiet, task-only job with no conversation
  • Anyone who wants to "just try sales out" we're investing real money in licensing you, and we need someone who's going to commit
