Range Sustainment Worker I

Regular Full-Time Fort Benning, GA


Job Summary:

Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work, providing general maintenance and repairs associated with the sustainment and operations of live fire ranges.

Areas of work may include equipment, buildings, facilities and grounds, and associated components requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and grounds maintenance.


Essential Responsibilities:

Performs grounds maintenance to include cutting of grass and maintenance of berms, firing points, and other range associated grounds.

Operates work related vehicles and equipment including but not limited to gasoline or diesel-powered mowers, tow trailers, load materials, or equipment.

Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to lift 40 pounds in a single lift.
  • Must be able to walk long distances to clear vegetation for land navigation points.
  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 5 years of experience is required in Range Sustainment Work.
  • Must possess a valid state issued driver's license.
  • Must have prior experience operating mowers (regular and zero turn) under 2000 pounds and weed eaters.
  • Position will require the use and operation of a variety of equipment and hand tools.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check (if required).
  • Must be able to obtain contractor pass for the installation.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
