Job description

Grounds Maintenance Worker

We are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our Maintenance Department. This position is responsible for the year-round care and maintenance of campus grounds. Responsibilities include lawn care, landscaping, woodland and trail maintenance, snow and ice removal, and basic maintenance of groundskeeping equipment.

Must be willing to take instructions from supervisors and be on time. Looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is motivated and reliable. Experience is helpful. Please note this is a labor-intense position; outdoors in all types of weather conditions, with bending and lifting.

The Camphill School is a school for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our main campus has multiple buildings, including a schoolhouse, offices, common buildings, kindergarten building, boarding houses and a maintenance building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mow, trim, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas.
  • Plant, prune, weed, mulch, and care for campus grounds.
  • Maintain woodland trails and remove debris and hazards.
  • Perform snow and ice removal on roads, walkways, parking lots, and entrances. Assist with weather-related campus maintenance as needed.
  • Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, tractors, trimmers, chainsaws, and snow removal equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures and report hazards or equipment issues.
  • Safely operate zero-turn mowers, tractors with attachments, snow removal equipment, chainsaws, trimmers, and other landscaping tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance on grounds equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, blade sharpening, filter changes, and minor repairs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to operate landscaping and snow removal equipment.
  • Basic equipment maintenance and repair skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license required.
