Job description

Grounds Maintenance Worker

The Grounds Maintenance Workers are responsible for the lawncare and associated grounds maintenance at the Customer Facility which includes approximately 400 acres of grass and vegetation.

CCI Industrial Services provides quality-driven, cost-effective construction, maintenance, industrial cleaning, power generation, and transportation services to support resource development companies in Alaska and the lower 48 states. CCI Industrial Services leads the industry in Safety, Innovation, and Excellence.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Ensure a safe work environment.
  • Comply with all guidelines, policies and procedures established by CCI while on shift, on call or attending training. Complete and maintain excellence with all lawn and landscaping care.
  • Demonstrate professional skills and abilities.
  • Communicate daily status of current projects to Site Supervisor to ensure all projects are completed and within CCI standards.
  • Maintain 100% "Safety Standards and Accountability" in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
    • Compliance with required HSE training.
    • Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
    • Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly.
    • Participating in CCI safety meetings, work safely and maintain a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI.
    • Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings, training, exercises, and drills.
  • Self-directed with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience using power lawn equipment including but not limited to: zero turn lawn mowers and weed eaters.
  • Ability to clearly speak, write, read and understand the English language.
  • Skilled interpersonal communication with the ability to work closely in a small shop environment.
  • Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A valid driver's license
  • Louisiana Safety Council Card

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current TWIC card
  • Prior experience in commercial lawn maintenance

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
  • Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Dress code is professional commensurate with site practices where applicable.
  • Hard-toe safety footwear is always required while working.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY EVALUATION (FCE) LEVEL 3. MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet. LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 30 pounds from waist level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet. HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms. VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man. Have correctable vision to at least 20/40. RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
