Job description

Description
Botiwalla is inspired by the tea and kabab houses - known as Irani cafes - of Chef Meherwan's childhood, as well as the grills - sigris - that pop up on the streets of India late at night, serving grilled meats and flatbreads to hungry revelers. We are so humbled and proud that our restaurant group has received seven James Beard nominations, a Zagat award, and a growing number of notable publications, including Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, Southern Living, USA Today, and one of Oprah's Favorite Things.
If this sounds like a team you're interested in joining - one that provides extraordinary hospitality and changes the perception of Indian cuisine in America - we're currently accepting applications for Back of House Team Members at Botiwalla!
Position Summary:
As a vital part of our back of house team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, food preparation, and cooking. Your role will support the daily operations of the kitchen through dishwashing, prepping, cooking, and ensuring the kitchen meets all health and safety requirements. • Check sanitizer buckets, gloves, and rags regularly to ensure readiness for health inspections.
  • Communicate with Managers on Duty (MOD) regarding kitchen needs, inventory, and food quality.
  • Participate in daily huddles and monthly All-Staff meetings, contributing feedback and ideas for improvement.

Organization, Cleanliness & Systems:
  • Ensure all equipment and food items are stored properly, maintaining an organized and sanitary environment.
  • Always adhere to health code requirements, ensuring a safe and hygienic workspace.
  • Consistently use checklists to ensure all tasks are completed.

Communication:
  • Use Sling and Opus platforms for communication to managers and team members.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to management regarding food quality, sanitation, organization, inventory, and team dynamics.
  • Actively communicate with coworkers and management about needs, issues, and improvements.
  • Participate in regular check-ins with BOH management, discussing performance, goals, and improvements.

Evaluation Metrics:
  • Positive feedback from BOH Management, other cooks, FOH, and guests regarding cleanliness, food quality, and efficiency.
  • Consistently high standards of sanitation, food quality, and organization as reflected in Health Code inspections.
  • Positive contributions to workplace culture and team dynamics.
