Job Title: Diesel Mechanic- Tractors
Department: Tractors
Location: Monroeville, AL

Reports To: Kenneth Steig

Job Summary

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered tractors and equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability. This role plays a critical part in supporting production, customer satisfaction, and overall operational efficiency at Bad Boy Tractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and adjustments on tractors and related equipment.
  • Use diagnostic tools, service manuals, and technical schematics to identify and resolve issues.
  • Test equipment to ensure repairs are completed to company standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Document repairs, parts usage, and maintenance activities accurately in service records.
  • Order and replace defective parts as needed.
  • Maintain tools, shop equipment, and a safe, clean work environment.
  • Assist with root cause analysis on recurring equipment issues to improve reliability.
  • Provide technical support to production and assembly teams when needed.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

  • Technical certification in diesel mechanics preferred.
  • 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience in tractors, agricultural equipment, or heavy machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift regularly.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.
  • Tolerance for working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Comfortable working with grease, oil, noise, and heavy machinery.
