Job description

Job Description: Presidential Ambassadors will foster leadership development and professional growth. They will share and elevate Presidential initiatives with their peers and campus community. Ambassadors will engage with the Office of the President and other constituencies to:
  • Contribute to the university's strategic initiatives
  • Bridge communication between students and administration
  • Foster excitement for Fitchburg State University on campus and beyond
  • Enhance academic and professional opportunities on campus
Opportunities:
  • Complete a leadership project or initiative
  • Work individually or collaboratively with faculty and administrators on an area of interest
  • Have the option to earn academic credit for project work with a faculty sponsor within academic departments
  • Attend a professional conference or seminar
  • Create a product or campaign that amplifies the mission of the university
  • Project can include academic or university service projects that overlap with other areas of interest
  • Serve the Office of the President and University Offices
  • Receive mentorship by executives, administrators, and faculty for professional development
  • Advise on university initiatives and offer feedback, innovative ideas and solutions
  • Represent students at university events
  • In-person time commitment will not exceed 5-10 hours per week, based on student availability and goals
Requirements: Open to all Fitchburg State University students (undergraduate and graduate) in good academic and conduct/behavioral standing. Qualified applicants should :
  • Have a passion for the academic mission of the university
  • Demonstrate leadership potential with an ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both oral and written, including multilingual proficiencies.
  • Have a desire to work collaboratively with peers, faculty, staff, librarians, and university leadership
  • Be willing to attend twice-a-month breakfast meetings with the Coordinator and additional faculty, staff and administration.
Additional Information: In-person time commitment will not exceed 5-10 hours per week, based on student availability and goals. Ambassadors will be paid $15/hour for university events. Application must be submitted by 5pm on Friday May 22, 2026. Program Start Date: September 2026 Term: Academic Year 2026-2027, with specific duties and expectations in both Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. Selection Process: Applications will be reviewed by the President, the program coordinator, and additional personnel. Selections will be based on the applicant's demonstrated commitment to the academic mission of the university, leadership potential, and alignment with the university's strategic goals. Note: applicants' conduct records (if any) will be checked to ensure that the applicant is in good academic and behavioral standing.
