Job description

Role: Technical Writer
Responsibilities:
Convert existing security & privacy engineering documentation to update content and presentation, integrating into new document management systems and standards.
Collaborate with the security & privacy team members to identify Google documentation that could benefit from a Google Access specific version, and then working with the appropriate staff to create that version.
Interacts with interdepartmental personnel such as program management, network engineering, & system reliability engineering, in a helpful, friendly, and positive manner.
Readily provides Writing and Publication assistance to achieve technical goals and strategies. Offers alternative and contextual writing options and is comfortable using a range of writing tools
Quick learner with an aptitude to quickly understand Google Access publishing tools and graphics packages. Able to complete assignments competently and comfortably using these tools
Develops and communicates an understanding of the company's Product Management requirements for the assigned product
Drafts new documentation: reviews and edits existing documentation as required
Researches information to help write or update product documentation. Detects and corrects cross-product inconsistencies.
Skills and Abilities:
Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, etc)
Command over the English language
Superior writing and editing skills in order to document technical information
Ability to write and edit documents according to Google Access publication standards
Cheerful and Collaborative
Adherence to Google workplace policies and procedures
Be comfortable working in content that may require legal and/or public policy review
US Presence with Valid Work Permit (Work Visa, Green Card or Citizenship)
Desired skills:
Experience working with security and/or privacy topics
Experience with Google internal documentation tools (g3docs, for example)
Education Level Desired:
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or Education preferred
