Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.
The Role
The Platform Apps and Innovation team develops the Netflix app and core playback components that enable the latest audio and video experiences on the largest SmartTV+ providers in the world. We are responsible for building the newest Netflix app on devices from Amazon, Google, Roku, LG, Samsung, and others. We succeed by unlocking new capabilities and continuous improvements measured by increased velocity of change and excellence in best-in-class TV experiences at scale. Our partner platforms succeed by deploying their latest OS updates and platform experiences. To elevate success metrics at scale across all our device platforms, we seek to fill a JS-adept role dedicated to operational excellence.
This is both an external and internal operational excellence role. It champions the resolution of various issues, including (but not limited to) components, applications and systems, complex device issues, and app and system configurations. Another critical part of the role is highlighting enhancements to automation, tools, and processes to reduce the team's overall operational drag.

  • Empathy for the end user and seeks out areas where we can do better
  • Carries a growth mindset - you don't need to know everything but are eager to learn anything
  • Good understanding of SDLC and related technologies
  • Experience with front and back-end languages in some combination of C, C++, Java, C#, and scripting such as Javascript, Python, SQL, or similar.
  • Some experience with embedded Linux development, administering JIRA or similar, code builds using Jenkins or similar, and collaboration suites like Google or Microsoft docs.
| Responsibilities
  • Support internal teams with high availability of device firmware and app builds
  • Support external partners through their OS updates and Netflix app updates
  • Manage various partner platform app stores by preparing and pushing Netflix app updates and monitoring for regressions
  • Perform investigations on monitoring alerts for various app and JS component canaries, propose fixes, or escalate
  • Execute any configuration updates in internal systems
  • Report progress and incidents, assess CI health, develop playbooks to increase repeatability for all updates, and assess operational metrics
  • Continuously elevate the starting point for code and component fixes
| Why Netflix?
  • Our culture is something we strive to constantly improve and practice daily.
  • You'll work with stunning colleagues across all levels.
  • You'll continue your career growth while pushing the boundaries of what is possible with home entertainment today.
We seek to grow diverse, inclusive teams that enhance our perspectives, skill sets, and behaviors. We highly encourage you to apply if your background will complement us, even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. Your skills and passion will stand out-and set you apart-especially if your career has taken some extraordinary twists and turns. Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000.
