Job description

Position Summary
Culinary Assistant I will be responsible for preparing and serving food items with attention to special needs and within food safety standards. Culinary Assistant will maintain that the kitchen, dining area and storage area are clean and organized.
Relationships and Contacts
Within the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with peers and accounting team members throughout STR Cedar Creek and affiliated facilities.
Outside the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with third party vendors, as necessary.
Position Responsibilities
  1. Assist in preparing healthy, flavorful menu options
  2. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
  3. Monitor and record daily temperature logs for refrigerators and freezers
  4. Ensure high quality food and beverages are provided in timely manner
  5. Serve meals and snacks to clients with attention to special needs
  6. Provide food for clients when scheduled and as requested
  7. Maintain all kitchen equipment and in an orderly and sanitary manner
  8. Support the proper rotation of food items to prevent unnecessary spoilage
  9. Maintain a pleasant and professional demeanor when interacting with clients
  10. Working knowledge and practice of state and local food safety standards
  11. Any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary by the Executive Chef

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
This position requires a high School diploma/GED equivalent preferred. 1 or more years of prior food service in the human services field required. ServeSafe certification preferred.
Additional Education and Experience
  • Strong organization skills, detail-orientated
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task
  • Good time management and ability to work within deadlines
  • Working knowledge of google email, sheets, and docs
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Operate basic hand tools, powered and non-powered

Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers/general public, clients and/or vendors
  • Tolerant to various noise levels: noise level in the work environment varies - may be very quiet to moderate
  • Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch
