The Operations Test Engineering team is seeking an individual with strong technical and interpersonal skills with a focus on manufacturing test solutions. You will have an active engagement with the Hardware, Operations, and Business teams in Apple.
Description
You will drive the development of efficient, robust system-level manufacturing test solutions that enable a scalable, globalized test supply chain. Responsibilities span across several test engineering functions, including:
Test Globalization:
Develop and scale a global test supplier ecosystem to support worldwide manufacturing readiness Partner cross-functionally to define and execute test globalization strategy, aligning stakeholders across engineering, business, and operations Assess, onboard, and qualify new suppliers to meet Apple's rigorous standards Lead globalized test equipment qualification in parallel with station development, navigating rapidly iterating hardware and software environments Bring clarity and transparency to complex situations, maintaining focus and momentum across global teams and timelines
Repair Manufacturing Line Test:
Own end-to-end test systems for MLB and system-level repair processes Manage test vendor scoping and qualification; drive mass production support, yield improvements, and cycle-time optimization Resolve complex test fixture, instrumentation, and station issues through structured troubleshooting Leverage data analysis, GR&R, calibration, and audits to ensure test station stability and hardware reliability
Product Manufacturing Test:
Design for Testability: Ensure new products are tested logically and cost-effectively using FMEA, ERS, and product design targets Product Lifecycle Engineering: Support all product phases from concept to end-of-life, including complex testing methods, procedures, and failure analysis Optimize test solutions using statistical tools (GR&R, SPC, Cp/Cpk) to drive quality, efficiency, and scalability post-qualification Close test gaps and improve supply chain correlations to enhance product quality and reduce cost Stay current on technical trends and apply data/ML/AI capabilities to active projects Deliver concise weekly Test Engineering status updates to executive leadership
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, or equivalent
3+ years of experience in manufacturing test station design, test development, automated test, and/or assembly equipment
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of high volume consumer electronics manufacturing and testing strongly preferred
Proven ability to solve complex manufacturing and test challenges, including root cause analysis and failure isolation in fast-paced production environments
Knowledge of tester qualification requirements including calibration, correlation, capability, repeatability and reproducibility, design of experiments, and failure analysis
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across hardware design, systems, capital equipment, quality, and process engineering
Strategic thinker who identifies solutions that balance technical requirements with business goals
Experience planning and executing development builds and mass production with factories worldwide
Exceptional communication and program management skills - able to influence and align global, cross-functional teams at all levels
