Job description

Job Title: SPC Supply Chain Analyst

Work Location & Travel

Maplewood, MN - Hybrid On-site (minimum 2 days per week) Travel up to 10%, domestic and/or international

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Customer Logistics Analyst to support and execute highโ€‘priority transportation optimization initiatives across global ocean freight networks. This role will focus on improving shipment utilization, consolidation strategies, customer shipping cadence, and cost-to-serve performance through data-driven analysis, development of PBI and reporting tools, operational process design, and cross-functional execution.

The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in logistics analytics, transportation operations, and project execution, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and improvements. This role partners closely with Global Logistics, Transportation, Distribution Centers, Manufacturing, Customer Engagement, and external logistics providers.

This position reports into Global Logistics and requires hybrid presence, cross-regional collaboration, and limited domestic/international travel.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Analytical Execution

  • Analyze order and shipment-level data via development and use of Power BI and advanced reporting tools to identify vehicle utilization gaps, consolidation opportunities, and cost-saving levers across global ocean transactions.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance decision-support tools including dashboards, prioritization matrices, process maps, execution timelines, and KPI scorecards.
  • Quantify and track financial benefits, including load factor improvements, consolidation savings, and other optimization impacts, in partnership with Finance teams.
  • Translate complex operational and financial data into clear, executive-ready insights and recommendations.
  • Logistics & Transportation Operations
  • Lead and support initiatives to improve vehicle load factor, targeting optimal utilization across 3M ICO and customer shipments.
  • Optimize global minimum order quantities (MOQ), palletization, and shipment frequency to improve network efficiency and stability.
  • Support international ocean freight operations, including FCL utilization, consolidation strategies, and shipment cadence optimization.
  • Partner with Distribution Centers, Manufacturing sites, consolidation points, freight forwarders, and 3PLs to ensure operational feasibility and execution discipline.
  • Define customer- and 3M site-level transportation targets and support adoption of standardized shipping calendars (weekly or dynamic).
  • Project & Stakeholder Management
  • Execute structured project plans across multiple workstreams, including scope definition, milestones, risks, and communication plans.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with ICO, Commercial, Customer Engagement, Transportation, Planning, Packaging, IT/Data, and external partners.
  • Engage directly with internal stakeholders and select tradelanes to review data insights, align on process changes, and support implementation.
  • Prepare and deliver clear progress updates and performance summaries for operational and leadership forums.
  • Contribute to governance processes, playbooks, and standardized operating models to enable scalable execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting both domestic transportation and global ocean freight operations.
  • Familiarity with container utilization, FCL strategies, and international logistics processes.
  • Exposure to project or program management frameworks, continuous improvement, or operational excellence initiatives.
  • Ability to partner effectively with Finance and IT/Data teams to validate assumptions and savings.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence presenting data-driven insights.

Skills: Required Qualifications

Strong analytical and technical skillset, with hands-on experience developing and using data and BI tools to drive operational decisions.

Demonstrated experience in logistics, transportation, or end-to-end supply chain operations, with exposure to shipment optimization, consolidation, or utilization improvement.

Proficiency in Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to build dashboards, models, and executive-level materials.

Solid understanding of transportation operations, including load factor, MOQs, cost-to-serve drivers, and shipment frequency management.

Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams, collaborate cross-functionally, and execute in fast-paced, complex environments.
