When considering candidates, we look for scientific and business professionals who are highly motivated, collaborative, and most importantly, share our passionate interest in fighting cancer.**General Description:**The Country Medical Director (CMD) is accountable for medical affairs leadership, oversight, and governance for Germany and plays a key role in the design, implementation, and governance of the Medical Affairs strategy to support marketed products and products in development.The role primarily serves to provide and enable executive scientific direction, ensuring medical excellence, and aligning Germany medical strategies with European and Global Medical Affairs priorities.The role reports to the Vice President of Medical Affairs in Europe.**Essential Functions of the Job:**Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:* Lead the Medical Affairs organization for Germany, with accountability for the development, prioritization, and governance of the local medical strategy, including evidence-generation plans, appropriate to Germany context.* Serve as the senior scientific leader within the German leadership team, providing expert guidance, strategic challenges, and decision-making support at key milestones.* Ensure compliance with German, regional, and corporate directives, including those governing promotional material, medical training materials, and medical information, acting as the senior accountable medical authority within Germany.* Be accountable for fostering effective cross-functional collaboration at Country level, ensuring Medical Affairs acts as a strategic partner to Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Corporate Affairs. This includes aligning priorities, facilitating constructive dialogue across functions, and enabling timely, integrated decision-making in the best interest of patients and the overall business.* Act as a regional medical leader, contributing as an active participant in European Medical Affairs leadership forums, with the objective of supporting the overall success and cohesion of the European Medical Affairs organization. This includes shaping aligned regional strategy, governance, and priorities across clinical development, safety oversight, investigator-initiated research, and payer-relevant evidence generation.* Oversee the alignment of medical strategy, communication plans, resources, and budget to ensure Medical Affairs activities effectively deliver Medical Plans and support Country business needs while preserving scientific independence.* Provide strategic oversight, critical evaluation, and endorsement of local evidence generation activities, including IITs and HEOR, required to support reimbursement and access discussions at Country level, ensuring these activities are conducted at the highest standards of scientific integrity, compliance, and governance.* Be accountable for medical input into R&D and lifecycle management activities, ensuring Country teams are empowered to provide timely perspectives that are appropriately represented in regional and global plans.* Provide strategic direction and oversight to Country Medical TA Leads and Field Medical Teams, enabling high-quality scientific exchange and consistent, compliant medical communication.* Provide senior scientific leadership and matrix influence across relevant functions (e.g., safety, regulatory, local clinical development), ensuring alignment with Country needs while coordinating with European and Global line management as appropriate.* Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key opinion leaders and external stakeholders, positioning the CMD as a catalyst for scientific exchange, partnership, and reputation-building, while enabling appropriate delegation to Medical Affairs team members.* Provide leadership for Country-level medical and scientific forums (e.g., advisory boards, educational meetings), ensuring strategic focus, scientific rigor, and alignment with patient and business priorities.* Provide executive medical oversight and challenge for promotional and non-promotional materials and learning content, with involvement focused on strategic review and risk mitigation.* Act as a senior medical spokesperson for BeOne products and significant medical topics within Germany, in coordination with Corporate Communications and General Management, focusing on high-impact, strategically relevant, and scientific engagements.* Recommend, prioritize, and govern Country-level medical activities, initiatives, and investments, in alignment with European and Global Medical Affairs strategy and evolving Country needs.**Qualifications**:* M.D. Physician / Scientist with significant experience in all aspects of clinical trials and professional knowledge and skills working with hematology and oncology therapeutics in solid tumor and hematologic indications.* Relevant pharmaceutical or related industry experience (7+ years) in oncology with proven track record as country medical director with contribution to commercial, medical and/or clinical development strategies (in country).* Solid peer relationships with and exposure to external scientific and clinical experts and Key Opinion Leaders; demonstrated ability to proactively engage internal and external leaders and serve as a medical expert for the oncology disease area.* Understanding of commercial and scientific needs on a local and global basis.* Intimately familiar with applicable rules and regulations and actions of EU regulatory bodies within the assigned Region.* Recognized expertise in clinical and/or research experience (including publications) in therapy area is desired; specialty training and/or clinical experience in oncology is highly preferred.* Proven ability to translate and appropriately align commercial and scientific goals and objectives and to interact productively with both commercial and scientific colleagues.* Highest ethical standards in corporate medical governance.* Experience delivering effective and persuasive communications on complex and controversial topics to both corporate management and scientific audiences.* Successful track record of initiating and leading cross-business/cross-functional planning, collaborating and solution building.* Strong interpersonal skills to allow for successful interaction with peers across the organization to achieve corporate goals.* Excellent written and oral communication skills.**Supervisory Responsibilities:*** The incumbent will build, lead, and develop the Country Medical Affairs organization, with direct line management responsibility for Medical Affairs staff within Germany.**Computer Skills:**Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, experienced with electronic CRM systems.**Other Qualifications:**Fluency in both verbal and written English and German necessary; any other major European language is of advantage.**Travel:**Ability to travel.Salary Range MD: 192,000.00 EUR - 240,000.00 EUR #J-18808-Ljbffr
