Job description

Job Description Summary
About the Team
GE HealthCare's Bone and Metabolic Health business designs, manufactures, and supports the Lunar family of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and body composition systems used worldwide to diagnose osteoporosis, assess fracture risk, and monitor metabolic health. Our Service organization relies on accurate field data and clear technical communication to keep this fleet running reliably and to continuously improve our products.
Role Summary
This Lead Service Engineer role is a data- and communication-focused position within the Bone and Metabolic Health Service organization. Rather than performing hands-on repairs, this person turns field service activity into clear, actionable information: trending service and complaint data, writing Technical Service Bulletins, reviewing field engineer reports for quality and completeness, and producing reporting that helps leadership, engineering, and quality teams understand what's happening across the installed base. No engineering or technical degree is required - the priority is strong analytical thinking, writing, and attention to detail.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting service design transfer tasks for New Product Introductions
  • Writing and/or performing Service Process Validation and Usability Studies
  • Setting up Spare Parts in our ERP system
  • Creating/updating Service Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (pFMEA)
  • Representing Service on the Engineering Change Control Board, including reviewing and approving Design Changes when they affect Service
  • Reviewing and researching field service data (repairs, parts consumption, downtime, complaints) across the Lunar/Bone and Metabolic Health installed base to explain unexpected patterns
  • Authoring, editing, and maintaining Technical Bulletins that communicate known issues, corrective actions, and best practices to Field Service Engineers
  • Supporting the complaint-handling and CAPA process by compiling field data summaries and writing clear, well-organized investigation and closure documentation
  • Partnering with Engineering, Quality, and Regulatory teams to translate field trends into actionable recommendations for product or process improvement
  • Maintaining and organizing the service knowledge base, ensuring bulletins, procedures, and reference documents are current and easy for the field to find and use
  • Presenting trend reviews and findings to service leadership and other stakeholders in a clear, organized format
  • Supporting new product introductions by reviewing early field data and helping document emerging service considerations

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline, or equivalent professional experience - no specific engineering or technical degree required.
  • Strong written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, organized technical documents (reports, bulletins, summaries).
  • Strong analytical and data-organization skills, including comfort working in Excel (pivot tables, basic formulas) or similar reporting/BI tools.
  • High attention to detail and a habit of following through on data quality and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources (field reports, complaint records, part usage) into a concise, actionable narrative.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with Field Service Engineers, Engineering, and Quality teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing reports/bulletins and shifting priorities independently.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a service, quality, technical writing, or data/reporting role, ideally within medical devices or another regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with complaint handling, CAPA, or service management systems (e.g., Salesforce Field Service, Oracle, or similar CMMS/service platforms).
  • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Prior exposure to medical device documentation practices and regulatory expectations (FDA, ISO 13485).

What GE HealthCare Offers
  • Competitive base salary and comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Retirement savings plan with company match, and paid time off.
  • Structured onboarding into the Bone and Metabolic Health service and product ecosystem, with growth paths into service quality, technical training, or service leadership roles.
  • The opportunity to shape how a global service team learns from the field - directly improving reliability and outcomes for patients.

We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
