Position Overview:

Promotes the maintenance of high quality nursing care in the Behavioral Health Services Inpatient services. Participates in the development of policies and procedures related to the patients' care based on patient/family needs at their appropriate age and developmental level; providing for the orientation, ongoing training and evaluation of nursing and affiliated associates; continuous quality improvement; integrating the activities of all disciplines; ensuring that Utilization Review efforts are successful; and clinical nursing program development. The Nurse Manager is a nursing professional of the Behavioral Health Services and represents, personally or through delegation, the Behavioral Health nursing associates to the medical center and the community at large. The Nurse Manager is a member of the Behavioral Health Services leadership team and assists in the budgeting, marketing and accreditation compliance. The Nurse Manager Director reports directly to the Behavioral Health Services Inpatient Program Director

Education Qualifications:

  • Required: Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Preferred: A bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited university

Certification Qualifications:

  • Required: Current Illinois Nursing License
  • Required: Current Basic Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross BLS) certification
  • Required: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training course (CPI) required within 1 month of hire date as well as ongoing competency in restraint, seclusion and take downs.

Experience Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years recent psychiatric nursing experience, inpatient psychiatric setting preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience as supervisor or manager.
