This role is ideal for nurses who are committed to providing safe, structured, and compassionate care to patients experiencing mental health and substance use challenges in a highly collaborative inpatient setting.

We welcome experienced nurses and select new graduates who are prepared for a structured, fast-paced behavioral health environment.

What This Role Looks Like

In this role, you will:

  • Care for patients experiencing acute psychiatric and behavioral health crises
  • Use therapeutic communication and de-escalation skills to maintain safety
  • Provide consistent structure, boundaries, and supportive care
  • Administer medications and monitor patient response

  • Value teamwork and clear communication
  • Are comfortable setting and maintaining professional boundaries

  • Find behavioral health meaningful and rewarding-not just "another unit"

This role may not be the best fit for those seeking a low-interaction or strictly task-based nursing environment.

Schedule

  • 12-hour day shifts

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN required)
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • CPI certification required within 1 month of hire
  • Behavioral health experience preferred
  • New graduates considered if motivated for behavioral health practice

Why Join Gateway?
  • Competitive pay: $32.00โ€“$48.00/hr
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid vacation and holiday time
  • Retirement plan with employer match
  • Shift differentials
  • Structured onboarding and team support
  • Collaborative, safety-focused behavioral health environment
