Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities for a growing oil and gas services organization. This role ensures accurate financial statements, strong internal controls, compliance with regulatory and industry standards, and provides strategic financial insight to support operational and executive decision-making. The ideal candidate brings hands-on oil and gas services experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage job costing, revenue recognition, and margin analysis for service operations
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections

Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
  • Coordinate audits, tax filings, and interactions with external auditors and advisors
  • Oversee sales and use tax, payroll tax, and other applicable filings

Operational & Strategic Support
  • Partner with operations and leadership to analyze costs, profitability, and performance
  • Provide financial insights to support pricing, capital expenditures, and growth initiatives
  • Support ERP and financial systems optimization and reporting enhancements

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility
  • Prior experience in oil & gas services, energy services, or construction-related industries
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and revenue recognition
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting systems and Excel

Preferred
  • CPA or CMA designation
  • Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-location operations
  • Strong understanding of field operations and cost drivers in oil & gas services
