What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Gamification Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Gamification Manager, you need expertise in game design principles, user engagement strategies, and a background in fields such as psychology, marketing, or computer science. Familiarity with gamification platforms, analytics tools, and project management software is commonly required, along with certifications like Certified Gamification Designer (CGD) being advantageous. Creativity, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills are vital to effectively collaborate with teams and motivate users. These skills ensure the successful design and implementation of gamification solutions that drive user participation and achieve business objectives.

How does a Gamification Manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement gamified solutions?

A Gamification Manager works closely with product managers, designers, developers, and marketing teams to design and implement engaging game mechanics within digital products or services. This role often involves facilitating brainstorming sessions, aligning objectives across departments, and ensuring that gamification strategies support broader business goals. Effective communication and project management skills are essential, as the Gamification Manager must coordinate feedback, track progress, and iterate on solutions based on user data and team input.

What are Gamification Managers?

Gamification Managers are professionals who design and implement game-like elements—such as point systems, rewards, and challenges—into non-game contexts like businesses, education, or apps to boost engagement and motivation. They analyze user behavior, collaborate with designers and developers, and measure the effectiveness of gamified strategies. Their goal is to make activities more enjoyable and productive by leveraging principles from game design.

Job description

We made history and now we work to transform the future - for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

The Ford Motor Credit Company team helps put people behind the wheels of great Ford and Lincoln vehicles. By partnering with dealerships, we provide financing, personalized service and professional expertise to thousands of dealers and millions of customers in over one hundred countries around the world.

In this position...

The Specialist, Learning & Development is a highly creative, technically savvy role responsible for designing, developing, and deploying modern, high-impact learning experiences. Working with an engineering mindset, you will transform complex concepts into engaging, interactive, and visually stunning digital assets.

This is not just an administrative role-you will be our in-house creative studio. You will own the end-to-end development of interactive e-learning modules, high-quality video content, simulations, and innovative learning solutions (like gamification and AI-assisted tools) that scale across the enterprise.

What you'll do...

  • Instructional Design & Interactive Development: Design and build end-to-end digital learning pathways and interactive modules using modern instructional design frameworks (ADDIE, SAM, Agile). Create code-enabled interactivities (using HTML, CSS, or JavaScript where necessary) to push the boundaries of standard e-learning.
  • High-End Video & Multimedia Production: Script, storyboard, and edit professional-grade video content, motion graphics, and microlearning assets. Turn dry technical training into cinematic, engaging, and digestible visual stories.
  • Innovative Learning Solutions: Research, prototype, and pilot cutting-edge modalities (such as gamification, interactive scenarios, software simulations, and AI-driven learning tools) to keep our learning ecosystem best-in-class.
  • LMS/LXP Ecosystem Management: Ensure all digital assets are fully optimized for accessibility (ADA/WCAG compliance), responsive across devices, and seamlessly integrated into our LMS/LXP environments (using SCORM, xAPI, and modern metadata/taxonomy standards).
  • Stakeholder & SME Collaboration: Partner closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), IT, and business leaders to diagnose performance gaps and translate technical workflows into intuitive, learner-centric training.
  • Data-Driven Iteration: Monitor and analyze learning analytics and feedback. Use data to continuously iterate on content, ensuring our programs remain highly effective, engaging, and aligned with business goals.
  • Brand & Quality Governance: Maintain visual standards, brand consistency, and content integrity across all learning platforms. Keep content libraries organized, reusable, and easy to navigate.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Digital Media, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent portfolio-backed experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience designing and developing digital-first learning solutions, interactive e-learning, and video content.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise), Captivate, or similar rapid-authoring suites. Ability to customize templates beyond out-of-the-box settings.
  • Strong hands-on experience with video editing and motion graphics software (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Camtasia, Vyond, or equivalent) and graphic design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva).
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript to customize e-learning interactions. Familiarity with SCORM, xAPI (Tin Can), and how content packages interact with LMS/LXP platforms.
  • Deep understanding of adult learning theory, cognitive load theory, and user experience (UX/UI) design principles applied to digital learning.
  • Ability to manage multiple creative projects simultaneously, balance tight timelines, and pivot quickly as business needs evolve.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with technical teams and translate complex topics for a general audience.

***Portfolio Required: Candidates must provide a digital portfolio demonstrating interactive e-learning samples, video production/editing work, and visual design capabilities.
