Assistant Operations Analyst: Video Game Research/Lab Services

Role

We're seeking an Assistant Operations Analyst to join our team at 600 Corporate Pointe in Culver City, California.

This role entails applying and growing Customer Service, IT, and Lab Maintenance skills in service of Video Game Research:

  1. Customer Service - This role requires the candidate to be a specialized customer service representative, attending to the needs and enhancing the experience of our gaming clients and research participants who visit our Culver City research facility. The ideal candidate is a people person and a great communicator.
  1. IT - This role also requires the coordination of technology setups for focus groups and playtests. You will work with the Operations Team to set up and take down computers and hardware for research involving multiplayer PC, console, and mobile video games, as well as online streaming and communication software like OBS, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. Training in specific technology will be provided, but an interest in and experience with gaming and streaming setups is preferred.
  1. Lab Maintenance - Help manage the aesthetic and cleanliness of our Culver City facilities. Keep the labs clean, organized, and looking professional. The ideal candidate is someone who prides themselves on being organized, neat, and efficient with process and procedure.

This role reports to the Operations Manager and will be full-time with availability required for afternoon and evening sessions. Occasional weekend work may also be necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Guest Services Coordination:
    • Clients: Greet clients and coordinate with research project team on meeting client needs, including backroom seating, lighting, supplies, meal ordering, etc.
    • Participants: Greet research participants and assist project execution with administrative functions, such as checking IDs, providing name tags, showing how to use lockers, providing snacks, providing NDA to fill out, etc. Enforce security protocols, such as stowing any recording devices such as phones, watches, smart glasses.
  • IT Setup and Management: Coordinate and manage the setup and takedown of streaming and playtest technology for in-house focus groups and playtests. Oversee and troubleshoot streaming and playtest hardware during sessions, including managing OBS software and peripheral devices such as USB microphones, webcams, and multiple PCs. Schedule and coordinate virtual meetings using Zoom, Teams and other platforms. Ensure smooth technical operations by conducting tech check-ins with participants and managing links and schedules.
  • Lab Maintenance: Help manage the aesthetic and cleanliness of our Culver City facilities. Refill supplies and clean before, between, and after groups/sessions. Ensure space is clean and organized at the end and beginning of each day.
  • General Administrative Tasks: Handle additional client, participant, and/or project team requests as they arise, including ordering food, making copies, providing participant parking instructions/validation, incentive payment information, etc.

Key Skills Needed

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • A sunny personality that makes people feel welcomed, respected, and at ease.
  • Highly organized and neat; efficient with process and procedures.
  • Familiarity with consumer tech, especially Windows PCs and game consoles.
  • Creative problem-solving skills for tech and streaming issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 product suite and PDF/document management tools.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Adherence to confidentiality and security protocols.

Preferred Qualities, but not mandated

  • An interest in gaming, including knowledge of the major games, platforms, and publishers.
  • Experience using OBS, Discord, and other recording/communication platforms is a plus.
  • PC configuration skills are a plus.

Compensation + Benefits
The pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be $18 per hour. In addition to the hourly rate, total compensation also includes tiered performance bonus, health/dental/vision, 401(k), generous paid time off, physical & mental wellness program, paid parental/family leave, and continuing education scholarship program.
