Position: GIS Technician – Network Underground Services (NUS)

Location- Atlanta, GA (Onsite 4 days per week; 1 day remote)

Duration: 2 Years

Job Summary

We are seeking a GIS Technician with strong AutoCAD skills to support the Network Underground Services (NUS) team. This role focuses on the design, creation, and maintenance of underground utility drawings, ensuring strict adherence to departmental and engineering standards.

The GIS Technician plays a critical role in producing accurate engineering and specification drawings, maintaining GIS data integrity, and supporting both the Network Underground Design Engineer and the NUS Test Group. This position is essential to ensuring data accuracy, operational efficiency, and reliable underground network documentation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and maintain underground utility drawings using GIS and AutoCAD tools
  • Produce engineering and specification drawings in accordance with departmental procedures and standards
  • Update and maintain GIS databases and spatial data to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Support the Network Underground Design Engineer with drawing updates and design documentation
  • Provide drawing and data support to the NUS Test Group
  • Ensure all drawings reflect current field conditions, testing results, and approved designs
  • Perform quality checks to verify accuracy and completeness of drawings and GIS data
  • Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and documentation
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and field teams to resolve drawing or data discrepancies

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working as a GIS Technician or CAD/GIS support role
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Experience creating and maintaining underground utility drawings
  • Working knowledge of GIS software, tools, and databases
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Ability to follow established procedures and engineering standards
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting underground electric or utility network services
  • Familiarity with utility engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience working with network testing or underground service teams

Work Environment

  • Hybrid schedule with four days onsite and one day remote per week
  • Office-based work supporting engineering and utility operations
