Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Project Manager 1 to support our Creative teams at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for managing small to medium size projects of average complexity including development and maintenance of project plans and reporting of project status.
Essential Functions
  • Manages all aspects of projects from planning through closing tasks and provides regular communication of status to stakeholders
  • Interfaces with multi-functional team, including Account, Creative, Web, Social, Merchandising and IT, to define the overall project scope and effort
  • Uses neutrality and impartial reasoning to minimize conflict between teams and keep project members on target
  • Proactively identifies project issues/problems, assists in issue/problem resolution, collaborates with team members to initiate solutions and communicates resolution plan to all stakeholders
  • Contributes to weekly resource planning sessions, evaluates staffing needs across clients and brands, works with other department leads to prioritize work, fills resource gaps and anticipates future resource needs
  • Provides concise and appropriate feedback on project inputs, outputs, internal processes and quality assurance measures to the appropriate functional groups
  • Develops, manages and communicates project and program timelines
  • Ensures that all project deliverables are completed to specifications and approved by all appropriate stakeholders
  • Maps and documents processes to standardize workflows and improve efficiency
  • Creates and maintains project documentation including requirement gathering, change logs, status reports, meeting notes and postmortem findings

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated track record in effectively delivering projects on time and within parameters
  • Demonstrated proficient understanding of project management best practices
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Proficiency using project management applications (e.g. Microsoft Project, Jira, Workamajig, RequestTracker or Smartsheet)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to people at various organization levels
  • Ability to generate and support pragmatic solutions that meet Garmin's market launch requirements, while maintaining high quality standards
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate and lead meetings
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize, follow-up and work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible with shifting priorities based on business needs
