What is a waterfall Project Manager?

A Waterfall Project Manager oversees projects that follow the traditional waterfall methodology, which involves sequential phases such as planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment. They coordinate teams, manage schedules, and ensure each phase is completed before moving to the next, often using tools like Gantt charts and requiring strong organizational skills.

How does a Waterfall Project Manager typically coordinate with cross-functional teams during each project phase?

A Waterfall Project Manager works closely with cross-functional teams by establishing clear project requirements and timelines at the outset, then guiding each team through sequential phases such as planning, design, development, testing, and deployment. Communication is structured and usually follows a top-down approach, with regular status meetings and milestone check-ins to ensure alignment across departments. Collaboration is essential, especially when handoffs occur between phases, as any delays or miscommunications can impact the project's overall timeline. Maintaining thorough documentation and clear channels for feedback helps the Project Manager keep all stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the process.

What is the highest paying Project Manager job?

The highest paying project management roles are often in industries like oil and gas, IT, and construction, with senior positions such as Program Manager or Portfolio Manager typically earning the most. Certifications like PMP or PgMP and extensive experience can also significantly increase salary potential. These roles often require strong leadership skills and proficiency with project management tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Waterfall Project Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Waterfall Project Manager, you need expertise in traditional project management methodologies, strong organizational skills, and typically a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Familiarity with project management software like Microsoft Project and certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are often required. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities help manage teams and ensure stakeholder alignment. These skills ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and according to predefined requirements, which is critical in Waterfall environments.

Can I make 100k as a Project Manager?

Waterfall Project Managers with significant experience, certifications like PMP, and managing large or complex projects can earn salaries of $100,000 or more annually. Salary levels depend on industry, location, company size, and individual skills, with senior roles and those in high-demand sectors more likely to reach or exceed this figure.

Their structured approach is often used in industries where requirements are clear and unlikely to change, such as construction or manufacturing.

We're looking for a Project Manager who wants their work to mean something - someone who brings care, accountability, and purpose to what they do every day.

Why This Role Matters

This role plays an important part in helping LUX Infusion deliver a patient‑first experience - by ensuring the projects and initiatives that support care delivery are executed with clarity, efficiency, and impact.

In this role, you'll contribute to work that:

Everything we do connects back to real people navigating complex healthcare journeys - and this role helps bring structure, focus, and momentum to that work.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead cross-functional projects from planning through execution to deliver strategic, operational, and technical initiatives on time and within scope
  • Define business requirements and develop clear project plans, timelines, and success metrics
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders across IT, Operations, Clinical, and external partners to align on goals and deliverables
  • Bring thoughtfulness, reliability, and follow‑through to project execution, communication, and documentation
  • Monitor progress, manage risks, and proactively adjust plans to keep projects on track and aligned to business goals
  • Provide clear, consistent updates to leadership, including project status, risks, and performance insights
  • Identify and implement better ways to improve processes, standardize workflows, and strengthen project delivery across the organization
  • Support new business initiatives, product launches, and process improvements that enhance patient and provider experiences

What We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you bring:

  • Deep care about the human impact of your work, especially in healthcare or patient-centered environments
  • 4+ years of experience in project management and business analysis, with healthcare experience preferred [Project Ma...r - LUX JD | Word]
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and coordinating multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or similar) [Project Ma...r - LUX JD | Word]
  • Clear communication and effective collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Strong ownership and accountability for project outcomes and delivery
  • Ability to think critically, manage complexity, and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Comfort using project management tools and developing documentation, plans, and reporting artifacts
  • A desire to be part of a team that values empathy and high standards

You don't need to check every box - we care just as much about how you show up as what's on your resume.
