Job description

R & D Paving is looking for an experienced field superintendent to oversee field operationsfor site development and road construction projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Have a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the overall project including but not limited to contract drawings, project specifications and any subsequent change orders or addenda.
  • Manager earthwork, grading, drainage, underground utilities, roadway coonstruction, asphalt paving, concrete work and related site activities
  • Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress. Report any problems promptly in an effort to facilitate the most cost-effective solutions.
  • Maintain project schedules and ensure that work performed is consistent with the contract and will meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Ensure that all materials and equipment delivered to the project are in compliance with approved submittals and shop drawings.
  • Ensure that all items scheduled for inspections are pre-inspected for compliance
  • Identify any potential additional work that would require change orders and communicate to Project Manager
  • Review projects daily to ensure that all activities are being performed in accordance with safety plan, in addition to OSHA or other governing body standards.
  • Confirm all subcontractors are adhering to safety standards
  • Identify safety issues and make all necessary corrections
  • Complete daily reports (time sheets) and maintain logs of key activities
  • Recommend staff development needs, disciplinary actions, job assignments and promotions
  • Field measure and submit quantities for pay applications monthly

Requirements/Skills:

  • Minimum 3 plus years of superintendent experience in site develoopment, heavy civil or roadway construction
  • Experience managinga team of 3+ employees
  • Experience and knowledge of roadway and site deveopment construction means and methods, project administration, and a thorough understanding of industry practices
  • Experience with earthwork, underground utilites, paving operations, MOT and drainage systems
  • Anility to read and interpret plans
  • Provide leadership as part of a changing environment
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license required

*Compensation based on experience*  This position is a full time salaried exempt classification and will include overtime as needed.  Weekends and evenings, although infrequent, may be required.
