Job description

A Jacksonville hospital is seeking a Trauma Medical Director to lead their acute care surgery team. Previous medical directorship experience is required, as well as Board Certification in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. With over 200 days of sunshine per year, 22 miles of sandy beaches, and the largest urban park system in the world, this vibrant city is a top destination to work and live.
Duties are organized around 12-hour primary in-house coverage, plus 12-hour back-up..   The acute care surgery team has seven fulltime advanced practice professionals and six fulltime trauma surgeons..   The program participates in TQIP and TQIP collaboratives..   Supported by a multispecialty team of Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery and Interventional Radiology.   26 ORs and 36 ICU beds combined TICU/MICU.   56-bed emergency department with 2 dedicated trauma bays and 4 additional critical care bays.   1840 annual trauma patients entered in the registry.   Florida State verified level II Trauma Center.   High volume of blunt / penetrating trauma (87% / 13%).   Pediatric trauma (under 16 years old) and all burn cases stabilized and transferred to pediatric center.   Employment and academic appointment through University of South Florida.
