Job description

The Rover is responsible for ensuring all personnel and facilities under their charge are safeguarded in accordance with established policies, procedures, and the relevant Facility Security Plan.
Key Responsibilities
  • Multi-tasking and paying close attention to surroundings and details while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • As necessary, performs access control duties as prescribed in post orders and relevant Facility Security Plan.
  • Check all facility/terminal doors, fences, and gates to ensure they are secure and pose no security or safety threat.
  • Opening, monitoring, and closing doors, fences or gates as needed.
  • Inspecting work areas to ensure compliance with established regulations regarding security, safety, and maintenance.
  • Responsible to always deliver excellent customer service, with all guests, clients, vendors, terminal employees and ship's crew.
  • Giving and receiving verbal communication in person and over portable radios.
  • Following the instructions, processes and procedures as outlined in written documentation or directed by a supervisor.
  • Attending relevant training.
  • Adhering to company uniform policy.
  • Responding to common inquiries from clients, guests, employees, and TSS management. Direct or communicate complaints to appropriate Supervisor or Manager.
  • Inspecting and verifying visitors, vendors, and crew members' identification credentials and documentation.
  • Demonstrating safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Identifying problems, collecting data and facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Writing and maintaining reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Ensuring all required reports are executed in a timely manner, when necessary.
  • Working variable hours, flexible shifts which may include holidays and weekends.
  • Maintaining accurate timekeeping of hours and time-off using payroll software.
  • The proper safe-keeping and storage of all Sensitive Security Information (SSI) materials.
  • Keeping management updated of any employee change of address or phone numbers.
  • Ensures strict compliance with all company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Additional duties as required for TSS Security Officers.

Minimum Qualifications
The following are the minimum qualifications that an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • TWIC Card
  • State Security Guard License (Class D)
  • Houston Area Safety Council Classes
  • Able to work weekends and holidays based on operations schedule

Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) and Secondary Officer Certification training will be provided by company

  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors environments.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in hot and cold inclement weather environments for extended periods.
