Join our mission to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. BRGMC is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Public Safety Officer to be part of our frontline team in ensuring safety, security, and compassionate service within our healthcare facility.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol hospital grounds and facilities to ensure safety and compliance
  • Respond to emergencies, alarms, and incidents in a calm and professional manner
  • Enforce hospital policies and support staff with safety-related concerns
  • Assist with patient, visitor, and staff safety needs including conflict de-escalation
  • Monitor surveillance equipment and access control systems
  • Complete detailed incident reports and documentation

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or public safety preferred
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable)
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations
  • Certification in CPR and first aid (or willingness to obtain)

Requirements
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1 year of work experience in Security, military, corrections, or law enforcement. Work experience within one of these areas within a healthcare facility preferred.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
HS diploma or GED; Associate's/Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of 21 years of age
• Valid LA driver's license with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years; if hired, out of state applicants must have valid LA license within 30 days
• Able to understand, carry out/perform, and adhere to instructions, directives, policies, procedures, etc.
• Able to effectively apply statutory laws, legal precedents, policy, and training in response to situations
• Able to make independent decisions during stressful situations, within scope of company policies, personal experience, and legal boundaries
• Dependable and motivated to complete duties without constant supervision. Able to interact appropriately with a diverse population
• Able to remain calm in stressful situations
• Ability to operate computers, monitors, cameras, CCTV systems, printers, mobile devices/scanners and or other office and security-related equipment, as required
• Basic officer certifications, International Association of Healthcare Security & Safety preferred.
• Successful completion of military advancement or related course preferred.
