About this Job At LSU Health Shreveport, our mission is to advance health professions through excellence in education, research, and service. We expect only the best We're looking for a part-time (when actually employed -WAE) Communications Officer 1 or 2 to join our University Police Department. Communications Officers support both the University Police and Guards in delivering and transmitting information and instructions clearly and accurately.

They also monitor the fire and security alarm systems and alert and direct officers to needed areas. If you ARE COMMITTED to COURTESY AND EXCELLENCE and to the philosophy of community policing, this could be the opportunity for you. AN IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES: Communicating Effectively: The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas.

Focusing on Customers: The ability to serve the needs of those who support and/or rely on the services provided. Using Data: The ability to use relevant and valid data to inform a recommendation for action. Minimum Qualifications Six months of experience in transmitting and receiving messages by radio or in administrative services; OR Six months of training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute; OR Fifteen semester hours of college training.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All persons appointed to this job will be required by the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Louisiana State Police Terminal Operator Certification Program Guidelines to meet the terminal operator certification/re-certification requirement within six months of employment. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: In this role you will: Receive and transmit clearly and accurately by radio, comm terminal, and telephone. Legibly and accurately record and maintain the activity/ communications log. Monitor security video display and recording system.

Provide information and directions to visitors, patients, and employees. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Job Appointment PER 1766 / PSN 00059414 Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Communications Officer 1 or 2. Work Schedule: Part-Time.

Up to 30 hours per week. Normal working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (Flexible) hours may change depending on needs of business
