About the Position:
Harris Health System is seeking an Operations Coordinator II - Volunteer Services to provide administrative and operational support for volunteer programs and related projects. This role is responsible for coordinating onboarding, recruitment, selection, and placement of volunteers, ensuring smooth operations within the Volunteer Services Department. The Operations Coordinator II will also support Patient and Family Advisory Councils, assisting with meeting coordination, event planning, and communication efforts. This position plays a key role in fostering community engagement by supporting volunteers and ensuring their contributions positively impact patient care.About Harris Health System:
Harris Health is a nationally recognized health system comprising three teaching hospitals and an extensive network of ambulatory care centers serving the people of Harris County, Texas, since 1966.   • Coordinate volunteer services activities, including recruitment, onboarding, placement, and communication.
  • Provide administrative support for projects and programs, ensuring alignment with the department's goals.
  • Assist with event planning, meeting coordination, and scheduling for volunteers and Patient and Family Advisory Councils.
  • Develop and distribute program materials, correspondence, and reports.
  • Support data collection, tracking, and reporting related to volunteer services and program initiatives.
  • Assist in budget development, financial monitoring, and proposal coordination for Volunteer Services.
  • Maintain department databases, online resources, and internal communication channels.
  • Work closely with leadership to identify volunteer opportunities and enhance community engagement.
Requirements:
  • Education & Experience (One of the Following):
    • Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of advanced secretarial experience
    • Associate's Degree with 6 years of advanced secretarial experience
    • High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of advanced secretarial experience
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Proficiency in MS Word, PC operations, and typing (30 WPM minimum)
    • Knowledge of analytical skills, mathematics, medical terminology, research, and statistics
    • Experience working with various office equipment (fax machines, computers, printers, copiers, scanners)
  • Work Schedule: Flexible (some evening or weekend work may be required)
  • Preferred Experience: Experience working in healthcare or community engagement roles is highly valued.
