On-Site Construction Inspector - Civil Engineering Capital Improvement Projects (levels I, II, or III to commensurate with experience)

JOB SUMMARY - Performs routine technical work in support of Authority engineering, planning, line maintenance, Miss Utility, and construction projects. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Engineering Inspection Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts and records field inspections of Authority facilities related to Capital Improvement Plan projects, operation and maintenance activities, and development construction projects.
  • Capable of reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
  • Acts as the Authority’s Resident Project Representative (RPR) during construction inspection activities.
  • Maintains construction documentation and records daily logs on construction projects.
  • Capable of performing responsible-in-charge (RIC) duties associated with all applicable Authority construction projects and activities.
  • Assists in making engineering surveys for construction projects.
  • Updates utility maps, O&M manuals, GIS data, as-built drawings, and sketches.
  • Assists in preparing construction cost estimates and specifications.
  • Assists in receiving and recording the calls for the "Miss Utility" service.
  • Assists with locating and marking the underground utilities in response to the "Miss Utility" calls.
  • Performs on-call responsibilities relating to after-hours, weekend, and holiday Miss Utility calls.
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, contractors, and the public.
  • Performs related tasks as required.
