Description
Project Title: Asian Cohort for Alzheimer's Disease (ACAD)
Overall Goal:
To recruit 5,081 older adults of Asian ancestry (Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese) across the U.S. and Canada, and to collect DNA and plasma biomarkers, genotypes, social determinants of health, and clinical diagnostic data.
NYU Site Focus:
To recruit approximately 800 older adults of Korean ancestry (≥60 years), including both cognitively healthy and cognitively impaired individuals, from community-based settings in the Northeast U.S.
Position Summary:
The Research Program Manager (RPM) will lead the implementation and coordination of research activities for the NYU site of the ACAD study, working closely with the NYU Site Principal Investigator (PI), research staff, and community partners to ensure the timely and high-quality execution of study protocols, participant recruitment, and data collection. The role includes oversight of day-to-day operations, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, data management, and contributions to scientific dissemination.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee daily research operations in alignment with the project work plan
  • Serve as liaison among stakeholders, collaborators, site coordinators, and community partners
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics for participant recruitment and data collection (cognitive assessments, neurological examinations, biospecimen collection)
  • Supervise and support research staff to ensure protocol adherence, data quality, and efficiency
  • Develop and maintain participant registries, monitor enrollment, retention, and follow-up
  • Track study progress and prepare regular reports for the site PI, funding agency, and collaborators
  • Assist with data standards and governance (add data quality validation)
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation, including drafting and editing for publication
  • Oversee research operations in alignment, integrating data-driven methodologies, AI- driven tools and informatics best practices
  • Support administrative, data collection, and regulatory aspects of the research program as needed

Position Details:
Approximate Start and End Dates: This is a full-time, one-year appointment (based on start date), with the possibility of continuation and extension based on performance, mutual agreement, and the availability of continued funding.
Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed-term, grant-funded position.
Expected Work Hours: 35 hours per week; The role follows a Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. schedule with some flexibility.
Location: Hybrid. The position requires at least three days of in-person work per week, including field-based research activities and College-designated common in-person days.
Compensation:
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $93,000. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and grant funding guidelines. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Active U.S. RN license with ability to obtain licensure in New York and New Jersey, and an MSN in Nursing or a related health science field
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
  • Experience in Korean community outreach and engagement
  • Bilingual proficiency in Korean and English (spoken and written)
  • Experience managing research activities or clinical research coordination
  • Strong informatics and technical skills to manage large datasets, support the development of user-friendly registries, and facilitate data collection among non-English-speaking participants
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Experience with data management, tracking systems, and reporting

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Nursing or related field
  • Research experience in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD), particularly in Korean populations
  • Advanced informatics and data management skills
  • Experience working with Korean American older adults in community settings
  • Experience working with individuals with dementia and their families
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom)
