About the Role:
Join The Preserve at Walnut Springs as a Ranch Hand (Equestrian Focus) and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature while supporting a unique ranch community in Johnson City, TX. This position is primarily focused on equine care, while also requiring full ranch hand responsibilities to maintain the overall operations of the ranch. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who is experienced with horses and comfortable performing a wide range of ranch duties.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily care for ranch horses (feeding, watering, turnout, stall/paddock cleaning)
  • Monitor horse health and behavior; report concerns promptly
  • Assist with vet and farrier visits as needed
  • Maintain barn, tack, and feed areas in a clean and organized manner
  • Perform general ranch hand duties including fencing, repairs, grounds work, and equipment upkeep
  • Support pasture and arena maintenance (mowing, seeding, weed control, footing upkeep)
  • Assist with general property upkeep and ranch projects as assigned
  • Operate ranch equipment (UTVs, tractors, trailers) as needed
  • Assist with transportation of livestock and equipment when necessary
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Interact professionally with residents and guests
Requirements:
  • Hands-on horse handling experience required
  • Willingness to perform full ranch hand/manual labor duties daily
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs and perform manual labor
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and practices
