As a Electrical Engineer, Edge Compute at Carbon Robotics be a key part of the team that designs and manages the distributed computing infrastructure that is the heart of our robots. You are responsible for the specification, design, vendor management, integration, and thermal/electrical management of the compute and network clusters. You'll ensure our mobile platforms can survive the harsh vibrations, dust, and heat of the farm while maintaining peak processing performance. You'll do whatever it takes - which might include going to the farm - to ensure our customers have reliable and safe products.

What you'll do:

  • Work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team to design revolutionary products
  • Own the specification, design/selection, qualification and integration of high-performance compute and network modules.
  • Lead testing of compute and networking hardware through environmental, power quality, and EMI/EMC qualification campaigns.
  • Interface with hardware vendors to source components, define assembly work instructions, and ensure quality of compute assemblies.
  • Quickly prototype, troubleshoot, and iterate solutions for electrical signaling issues, PCIe/USB/Ethernet bottlenecks, and hardware-level failures in the field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:
  • 5+ years experience as an Electrical Engineer
  • Experience designing production embedded hardware, with at least one full carrier board or SoM-based design taken to volume manufacturing
  • Experience with PCIe Gen3/4, MIPI CSI-2, USB 3.x, and DDR4/LPDDR5 design and testing
  • Significant experience designing compute systems for harsh outdoor environments with intermittent connectivity
  • Experience with Altium Designer
  • Experience with low-level Linux systems, including driver configuration, device trees, and board support packages (BSP) is a plus
  • Experience with SolidWorks is a plus
  • Experience with Jira is a plus
  • Hands on experience in hardware debug and automated verification
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team to achieve timely objectives
  • Awareness of industry standards and regulations (SAE, ISO, IPC, etc.)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and a desire to work in multidisciplinary teams
  • BS+ in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field

The compensation range outlined is based on a target budgeted base salary. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as relevant experience and skill, Interview assessments and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements. Offers are determined using our equitable hiring practices. Carbon Robotics offers additional compensation in the form of benefits premiums, pre-IPO stock options and On Target Earning commissions for appropriate positions. Base pay ranges are reviewed each year. We are committed to the principle of pay equity – paying employees equitably for similar work.

Carbon Robotics' base salary pay range:
$99,090—$156,568 USD
