Job description

Role:

To assist the Credit Union in achieving its Service Mission to deliver Total Member Delight in each and every service interaction with both internal and external members. A key component of this external service is to identify the financial needs of each member and recommend an effective credit union product solution. In addition will provide mortgage and home equity lending information to members.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer questions and assist members with general mortgage and home equity questions or concerns either by telephone, in person or by correspondence.
  • Interview loan applicants to obtain required information for mortgage and/or home equity applications.
  • Offer members products and services through the ACS system that will assist them in their financial lives.
  • Review, evaluate and analyze mortgage and home equity loans within lending guidelines.
  • Prepares and or reviews all loan documents for completeness, accuracy and compliance with policies, procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Set up, close and disburse home equity and mortgage loans.
  • Maintain and monitor taxes and insurance coverage.
  • Maintain solid knowledge of mortgage, home equity and consumer lending policies and procedures.
  • Service, maintain and update mortgage and home equity files.
  • Be responsive and maintain regular communication to ensure a turn around time of 30 days for refinances and 60 days for purchases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:

Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education: A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

Other Skills:

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to use a PC and all types of general office equipment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of word processing software, excel, mortgage software and internet.
  • Ability to make decisions with minimum information.
  • Professionalism in appearance, dress and attitude is a must.
  • Must be eligible to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) and must maintain registration with NMLS as a registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).

Position Type: Full Time

Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: Position based in Massena and will be required to travel to other branches as needed.

Current Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8a - 5p, Friday 8a - 5p or 9a - 6p on a rotating basis, and Saturday 9a - 12p on a rotating basis

Pay Range: $21.50 - $25.82 per hour. Position also eligible for quarterly incentives and annual bonus.

Actual starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
