HP is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to lead significant employment-related litigation and complex commercial disputes with material legal, financial, and reputational impact. This role is based in either Houston / Spring or Vancouver and follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring employees to work in the office three days per week.
Role Overview

  • Own complex employment matters, including class, collective, and representative actions, as well as high-risk individual claims
  • Lead complex commercial litigation and, as needed, government investigations
  • Develop and drive litigation strategy, including risk assessment, settlement posture, and scenario planning
  • Retain and manage outside counsel, including strategy, staffing, and performance oversight
  • Manage litigation budgets and partner with Finance on reserves and disclosures
  • Advise business leaders and internal stakeholders on litigation risk, trends, and business impact
  • Partner cross-functionally with Employment, HR, Compliance, and business teams to manage risk and support decision-making

Required Qualifications
The must-haves for this role are:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, or ability to practice in the role's location through in-house registration
  • Strong grounding in U.S. employment law, including experience with class, collective, and representative actions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex litigation matters independently
  • Experience in commercial litigation and, preferably, exposure to government investigations
  • Experience managing outside counsel and litigation budgets
  • Comfort advising business partners and senior stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience advising business leaders on litigation risk, settlement posture, and trial exposure
  • Experience managing outside counsel, litigation budgets, reserves, and related financial reporting
  • Experience at a top-tier law firm
  • In-house experience in a litigation management role

The pay range for this role is $165,450 to $259,750 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
