Full Time Library information

What is a full-time library job?

A full-time library job typically refers to a position within a library where the employee works a standard number of hours per week, usually ranging from 35 to 40 hours. These roles can include librarians, library assistants, or other support staff responsible for organizing, managing, and providing access to library resources. Full-time library employees may also assist patrons, manage collections, organize events, and support educational programs. The specific duties can vary depending on the library's size and type, such as public, academic, or special libraries.

What is the difference between Full Time Library vs Part Time Library?

AspectFull Time LibraryPart Time Library
Work HoursTypically 35-40 hours per weekFewer hours, often less than 20 hours per week
CredentialsUsually requires a Master's in Library Science (MLS)May require similar credentials but often less strict
Employment BenefitsFull benefits including health insurance and paid leaveLimited or no benefits

Full Time Library positions involve standard working hours, comprehensive benefits, and typically require an MLS degree. Part Time Library roles offer flexible hours with fewer benefits, suitable for those seeking part-time work in similar library settings.

What are some common challenges faced by full-time library staff, and how can they be managed effectively?

Full-time library staff often face challenges such as balancing multiple responsibilities, adapting to new technologies, and assisting patrons with diverse needs. Managing time efficiently and staying organized are key to handling circulation, reference, and programming duties. Regular training and open communication within the library team can help staff stay updated and supported. Building strong relationships with patrons and colleagues also fosters a positive work environment and enhances service quality.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full-Time Librarian, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full-Time Librarian, you need a strong background in information science, research methods, and collection management, typically supported by a Master's in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent qualification. Familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS), digital databases, and cataloging standards such as MARC or Dewey Decimal Classification is essential. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and a customer-service mindset help librarians engage with patrons and collaborate with colleagues. These skills are crucial for efficiently managing resources, supporting community needs, and ensuring access to accurate information.

Blake's Orchard Full-Time

Armada, MI โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Job description

Description:

Job Summary

Blakeโ€™s Orchard & Cider Mill (BOCM) is hiring a Multimedia Content Creator to bring our brand to life through photo and video. This is a hands-on, in-the-action role for a creative who thrives in fast-paced, real-world environmentsโ€”capturing live moments at our orchards, tasting rooms, retail locations, and events, and turning them into engaging, high-performing content. Working in close partnership with the Social Media Marketing Manager (who owns strategy, calendar, and community management), the Multimedia Content Producer is responsible for the photo and video production engine across the full Blakeโ€™s portfolio. If youโ€™re someone who sees a moment and immediately thinks โ€œthatโ€™s content,โ€ this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture Across the Brand: Shoot photo and video across events, experiences, food, retail, tasting rooms, and seasonal activations at all Blakeโ€™s locations.
  • Multi-Format Production: Shoot fluently with DSLR/mirrorless cameras and mobileโ€”both formats are required for the role.
  • Lead Short-Form Video: Create and edit high-performing Reels and TikTok content as a primary focusโ€”on-trend, on-brand, and platform-native.
  • Web & Digital Assets: Capture and produce high-quality photography and video for website use, including homepage, landing pages, email campaigns, and promotional assets.
  • Real-Time Turnaround: Edit and finish content quicklyโ€”sometimes same-dayโ€”to capitalize on live moments and trending opportunities.
  • Partner with the Social Media Marketing Manager: Take social briefs and translate them into shot lists, captures, and finished assets that map back to the social calendar and strategy.
  • Trend Translation: Stay on top of social and visual trends and translate them into content that fits the Blakeโ€™s brand and audience.
  • Travel & Cover All Locations: Travel regularly to all Blakeโ€™s locationsโ€”Armada, Almont, Big Apple, and South Lyonโ€”for content capture, events, and seasonal moments.
  • Be On-Site, In the Action: This is not a desk-only role. Youโ€™ll spend significant time on the orchards, in tasting rooms, in retail spaces, and at live events.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to support campaigns that drive traffic, ticket sales, and brand awareness across all locations.
  • Build & Maintain the Content Library: Organize, tag, and archive captured content so assets are findable and reusable across paid media, web, email, and seasonal campaigns.

Requirements:

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements

  • 2โ€“5+ years of experience in content creation, photography, and videography for a brand, agency, or creator platform.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating BOTH photo AND video work (required for application review).
  • Proven ability to shoot with DSLR/mirrorless cameras (required).
  • Experience creating Reels and TikTok content that feels native and engaging on each platform.
  • Ability to produce polished, high-quality assets suitable for website and digital use.
  • Proficiency in editing tools (Adobe Premiere, Lightroom, Photoshop, CapCut, or similar).
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, live environmentsโ€”events, weekends, and seasonal peaks.
  • Equally comfortable behind the camera and in the editโ€”able to own a project from capture through final cut.
  • Understands what makes content perform, not just look goodโ€”you can read a feed and know what will land.
  • A self-starter who takes ownership without heavy direction; this is not an entry-level role.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to drive to each of our locations: Armada, Almont, Big Apple, and South Lyon.
  • Bonus: experience with influencer/UGC content, food & beverage brands, or experiential/hospitality marketing.

Why Join Us

  • Be part of a high-energy, experience-driven brand with constant content opportunities.
  • Work across events, food, retail, and seasonal campaignsโ€”no two days look the same.
  • Creative freedom to capture and create in real-time.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid schedule based out of Blakeโ€™s Armada, MI campus: 3 days per week on-site, 2 days remote. Additional on-site presence required for shoots, events, content capture, and key team collaboration days as the calendar requires.
  • Work environment is split between a climate-controlled office and outdoor settings across the orchard, retail, tasting room, and event venues. Normal outdoor weather and travel hazards apply.
  • Physical requirements: ability to carry, set up, and operate camera and lighting equipment (typically 20โ€“30 lbs); stand and walk for extended periods during shoots and live events.
  • Weekend work is required during festival and fall season; standard five-day weeks apply during off-season months. When required, Mondayโ€“Friday schedule will shift to accommodate.
