ITI Glass

Job description

Employment Type: Full-Time
ITI Glass and Wickham Glass are seeking an experienced Architectural Drafter and Project Coordinator to support our growing commercial glass and aluminum operations.
This position is ideal for someone who is more than a production drafter. We are looking for a detail-oriented problem-solver who can interpret architectural drawings, coordinate project information, identify potential issues, and help move projects from initial drawings through approval, ordering, fabrication, and installation.
The successful candidate will work closely with our aluminum project manager, estimators, customers, architects, contractors, suppliers, and production team. As the individual develops within the position, there will be opportunities to assume greater project coordination and customer-facing responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, and project requirements
• Prepare accurate shop drawings and submittal packages for commercial glass and aluminum projects
• Develop layouts, elevations, details, and fabrication information using AutoCAD or similar drafting software
• Coordinate dimensions, materials, hardware, finishes, and system requirements
• Identify conflicts, missing information, constructability concerns, and potential fabrication or installation issues
• Prepare and manage RFIs, revisions, resubmittals, and drawing updates
• Coordinate with architects, general contractors, engineers, suppliers, project managers, and internal departments
• Assist with material takeoffs, ordering information, and fabrication documentation
• Maintain organized project records and communicate changes to the appropriate team members
• Support projects from the submittal stage through fabrication and installation
• Help improve drafting standards, templates, processes, and documentation
• Communicate directly with customers when project details, questions, or corrections need to be discussed
Qualifications
• Experience in architectural drafting, construction drafting, building design, engineering coordination, or a related field
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or comparable drafting software
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents
• Strong spatial reasoning and the ability to understand how individual components fit within a complete building system
• Ability to identify drawing conflicts and potential project issues before they reach fabrication or installation
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working collaboratively with customers, contractors, architects, suppliers, and internal team members
• Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to producing accurate work
Preferred Experience
• Commercial glazing, storefront, curtain wall, entrances, windows, or architectural aluminum systems
• Shop drawing and construction submittal preparation
• Revit, BIM coordination, Bluebeam, Navisworks, or 3D modeling
• Architectural, mechanical, structural, or multidisciplinary project coordination
• Experience serving as a project coordinator, job captain, lead drafter, or assistant project manager
• Familiarity with fabrication drawings, material takeoffs, and construction field conditions
Direct commercial glass experience is preferred but is not required. We are willing to train an experienced architectural or construction professional who possesses strong drafting, coordination, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
What We Are Looking For
We need someone who naturally looks beyond the drawing and asks:
• Is the information complete?
• Will the system fit and function as shown?
• Are there conflicts that need to be resolved?
• Does production have everything needed to fabricate the material correctly?
• Have changes been clearly communicated to everyone involved?
This is an opportunity to join an established Wichita-based company, contribute to complex commercial projects, and grow into a larger project coordination role as your knowledge and responsibilities expand.
Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply and submit a résumé describing their drafting, architectural, construction, or project coordination experience.
